Garmin Xero C1

Im looking into getting a Chronograph to test my reloads. Has anyone used this one? I need a small chronograph to use at an indoor range. Im not sure if this one will pick up other peoples rounds being that its pretty close quarters at the indoor ranges.

Looking to get one this year. Got to shoot a friends outdoors a while back and it worked amazingly well. Met a guy a few weeks back, said he has one and uses it indoors. If I remember correctly he said he tried to get an end stall and kind of angles it towards the wall a little, works fine. Said he ocassionally picked up another shooters shots before he started angling it towards the wall.

I've had one for a year or so now, and it's never picked up another shot from the adjacent bench, neither CF or RF. I've used mine one time at a RFBR match indoors, and it did not pick up any shots but my own, but I have heard of the units picking up the adjacent bench shots. I've not experienced that. All CF use was outdoors at a covered bench firing line.

I have one. Considering my last chrony was so cheap, I hated spending the money, but holy moly the ease of use is astounding. I don't use the app, however, just the unit itself. The app let's you do a lot more that is of no interest to me as I don't reload.

Buy it. You won't be sorry.

At shot show there was an announcement of a knock off to be introduced in spring/summer for a little more than 1/2 the cost.

Garmin just makes it so easy

I replaced my multiple shot up chrony with the Garmin Xero C1.
Kills it outside.
Indoor range, i get some cross over if someone is in the immediate left or right lane - but it is obvious someone else's velocity.
Setting up behind the firing line for ANY firearm -- Revolutionary.
The size - i could put it in my pocket if i wanted - so there is no reason for it to not be in the range bag.

I've used a chronograph for many years. IMHO, the Garmin is excellent in all respects; just a pleasure to use. I haven't used it indoors though. Looks like Adventurer 2 has good info on that.

I jumped in early. The Garmin is very convenient, my down range chronographs are pretty well retired.
It is subject to picking up shots from the next lane at the indoor range.
I had to run my last series while the guy next lane was reloading for his mag dumps

You might compare the Labradar LX.

Athlon has one in the works, cheaper.

I really want one of these Garmin's. I don't need it, having had a ProChrono for many years. The Garmin just looks so handy and easy to use. I haven't heard any negative reviews on it. Just knowing where it's made and the components that go into it, I don't see why it can't sell for half of what it does. I think I will get one at some point. I'm just afraid as soon as I do, the price will drastically drop.

We can only hope! The shooting sports like a lot of forms of entertainment are slowly being priced outa reach.

Athlon is supposed to have a similar sized chronograph for $350 street price. That's only $100 less than I bought my Garmin for. My Garmin was $472 after tax and shipping.

It took me about 30 minutes of internet searching to find the Garmin $150 cheaper than Cabela's, Midway, Bass Pro, Scheels, and etc. I'm sure the IP for the Garmin is being shared around China, and you'll see more of this type of chronograph in the future driving the cost down.

I posted about it when I purchased it last year, and the place I bought it from no longer exists. However, have you looked at: gun.deals

There is always eBay, there are a few you can bid on. You can possibly get one even cheaper than I did. There are several listed at "make offer" as well. What is the worst they can tell you?

I bought mine primarily for load development for rifles. My son wanted to know how fast his bow was shooting so I just stood next to him with it in my hand a few feet away and pointed it towards the target. It picked up his arrow no problem. Just saying I don't believe you have to be within 12" or shoot directly over it and it will still pick up the shots.

Eventually, it may. Prices are already coming down. The problem with buying newly marketed products is that the manufacturer is recouping R&D costs. That is a common reality is tech and many other fields.

Coming soon

I play in the world of PCP guns and chronographs are very popular among this group, much more so than firearms. Regulated PCP dominates 10 meter competition, I see FPS usually not varying by more than 3-5 FPS over a shot string from a regulated gun. One hole groups are the norm with a good rifle and quality pellets.
Cheap(er) Chinese chronographs are starting to show up, you can safely bet your last dollar there will soon be a flood of them.
When there is concern about getting a knock off rather than genuine product. Buy the vendor first. You will not get knock off products from an authorized dealer. The risk is too great, it is not easy to become a dealer for popular high end products like Garmin. No Garmin dealer would take that risk selling fakes. Online vendors are fine as long as you can confirm their status as a dealer. The manufacturer's website is a great resource to confirm, the vast majority either have a list or a dealer locator. Do not assume a brick and mortar retailer is a dealer just because they have the product on the shelf.

I probably need need to clarify my use of the term "knock off" Wasn't referring to items labeled as, or pretending to be garmin. Was referring to items using same technology, features and size like the one explained at shot show

I got a Garmin. All the others obsoleted.

The new competitor...we will see. But I don't feel bad paying the Garmin price.
