Ready for a new firearm
I'm looking for everyone's opinion. I use to own a Glock 26 but had to sell it due to my roommate. I love the Glock23 gen4 and wouldn't mind owning another but also i'm open minded to possibly another brand. It will be my daily CCW and I definitely want to go with 40 caliber. Please no hating just friendly conversation.

How about a Kahr CW40 or a S&W M&P Shield in .40?

Find and try a Walther PPS. They come in both 9mm and .40. I own the 9mm version and it quickly became my main CCW gun. The gun is accurate, reliable, has a great trigger and shoots like a full size gun.
That being said, I've spoken to a couple of guys who shot the PPS in .40 and both said it was pretty snappy of course the round is pretty snappy regardless.

Try an XDm in .40S&W.
I find that that grip angle suits me better than the Glock's grip angle. |

To me, the main question concerns how comfortable you were with the width of the G26 that you owned. If it was comfortable for you, then the field is wide open.
If you want something slimmer, then your choices narrow considerably. Some great ones have already been mentioned...Kahr, Walther PPS, S&W Shield, maybe even the Sig P239. |

I know u said u were open to other brands. But I think you should go with glock. Glock is simply the best I think. Have you ever taken one apart and seen how little can go wrong with the mechanism inside? They just work. And they work forever. You may even try the 9mm. Because if you want 40s&w stopping power. You have the option to shoot +p or +p+ (520 pounds of energy) an d you'll be able to have a few extra rounds in the process. But with that being said I think there are other brands out there that are just as good. Sig is one example. But ya, I'd even go full size, not just a compact gun. I'd go full size and just Carry it in a holster.

Glocks, .40S&W models....
For the value & features, Id suggest a new Glock 23 gen 04.
You can convert this model to .22LR, 9mm(9x19mm) or .357sig with after-market barrels. It fits a large # of holsters & has a lot of gear/accessories. If a new Glock 23 isn't a good fit, there are a few other top .40S&W pistols; the Walther PPQ m2, the XDm, the PX4 Constant action, the M&P compact(without the magazine safety), the SIG Sauer P250 or the P229R DAK. The SIG Sauer P229R DAK is standard issue to the US Coast Guard, US Secret Service, NCIS, CBP & a # of other federal law enforcement agencies. |

Try the Ruger SR40C. Do a web search and you will see people really like them. I have the SR9 and SR9C. The SR40 will be coming just after the tax return.
BTW I do have a Glock27, and had a Glock23. Great guns, but the Ruger feels better to my hand, and It shoots well. |

Room-mate?....
I forgot to ask why or what the room-mate has to do with the guns.
Was it a domestic issue? Or did you need the $$$ for rent/utilities? My sister often asks me not to bring any guns to her home during holiday visits. I sometimes take my .45acp or 9mm pistol but not often. I respect other people's views or feelings re; firearms but I expect them to respect mine too. |

Being able to shoot 3 different calibers from the same gun is a big plus in my book - I have a G22 with all 3 barrels mentioned above (G17 mags feed the 9mm one) and it's awesome. Range with the 9, practice with 40, and if I want to satisfy my "power" needs, the 357 Sig gives you plenty!
