Imi 357

Picked up some brass at the range. They are measureably shorter than the other brass I am using. 1.230 vs 1.280-1.290. Is this normal for IMI. Any harm in using it.

HISTORY

Without knowing the history of these cases, I personally would not risk using them for ANYTHING other than 38 Special-type loads.

Bullets = Cast Performance or Beartooth
Cases = Starline
Powder = N110, W296, H110, AA9, H4227, Lil'Gun, and some others.......
Primers = CCI550, and some others.......

Crimp (heavily) using the Reding Profile Crimp die.

Not enough of them to worry about. I'll trash them.

I think you caught this on the other thread, but they may have been used for extra heavy bullets in a revolver. This allows you to seat them long and still maintain an OAL that fits in the cylinder.

Then again, someone may have gotten a new case trimmer for their birthday and got a little excited with it.

Another possibility is that they are well used cases and began to crack at the case mouth. I have heard of reloaders trimming such cases very short to get past the crack.
