The best mags are Comblock steel surplus (Russian, Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian, Yugo, etc.). Avoid Korean knock-offs.

As mentioned, the Circle-10 polymer mags are great, but you will not find them for $15.

I use these ones. Piece of mind that I can use them to get my truck unstuck if need be.

The old stand by Tapco mags have always seemed to work good and is in your price range or lower. 20's & 30's work equally well if you don't mind plastic mags.

Do the Tapco mags have steel feed lips? I think that's really important for a plastic mag.

No they don't , but I've never had one deform by leaving them loaded. I have heard of problems with plastic feed lips on some cheap Canadian mags deforming though.

Its more important for the notch and hook on a mag to be steel. But tapco while not the best work just fine for the price. if you break em Tapco will replace them.

Surplus steel mags are the most reliable I've used, although I've never owned a Circle10 yet.

I think PSA had a sale for $10/mag for the steel ribbed 7.62x39 mags.

Yep, surplus steel mags. The things are nearly bulletproof and last batch I bought were at a gun show in a clearance bin for $8 a piece. Of course this was before anybody had heard of Obama so prices were different then. Still can't imagine greasy used mags for more than $12 bucks or so.
