AR15 primers?

I`m hearing alot about blown primers ,lately, in people`s AR`s (223). Have you had any blow? If so, could you share with me the brand? What primers do all of you use, and which ones should I avoid? I`m trying to decide on a HP load. (I didnt forget your advice, Steve!) Thanx Guys!

Try Federal Small Rifle primers. I've used them for years with no dramas

While doing my initial load development for HP, I had several blown WSR primers. I spoke to my rifle builder and he said that they were notorious for blowing. He recommended Rem. 7 1/2 primers instead. Since then I've had no troubles.

Use a small rifle "magnum" primer, not small rifle but magnum small rifle. Or use the rem 7 1/2 which is a "can be used as both" if I recall correctly. A standard small rifle primer will tend to blow on occasion in a .223 with the high end loads thus the loading manuals say use the 7 1/2 or a magnum primer.
