model 36 DOB

I would appreciate a little help with the manufacturing date of a model 36. The serial number on the butt of the square frame is 8XXJ7. The assembly number is 24XXX.
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

That's a very unusual serial number, i.e., with the "J" toward the end followed by more numerals. According to SCSW, the only time that type of S/N was used is from 1971-1972. The range given is from J1 to 999J99.

FWIW, I was told my old J-frame with serial 18xxx is a 1952-3 manufacture. Has the old 'flat latch' button too.
