The Lyman Handbook lists 4.3 Unique as a starting load. Sounds like you are in the ballpark for a starting load.

In a Hercules guide from the 1990s, they listed 6.0 grains as a max load for a 125 grain LRN in 9mm. They reduced their max load to 5.5 grains in the newer guides produced by Alliant.
The one load I tried with Unique and a 125 gr LRN didn't give me much for accuracy, so I never pursued it. I'd say try a starting load of 5.0 or 5.1 grains and see what you see. I'm using a COAL of 1.140" with my 125 gr LRN bullets, but I would imagine different molds produce slightly different bullet shapes.

I run 4.1gr Unique with 125gr LRN (should be safe with 124) and OAL of 1.15. It's a nice little softball range load.

I run 4.5grs Unique with a 125gr LRN from SNS Casting which makes about 128PF out of a 5" 1911. Nice load, a bit smokey though.

I use the info from the Lee book for my 124 gr rounds and for lead it lists the following:
WSF 4.0 to max of 4.7 with a min oal of 1.095. I like my 9mm seated a little longer and use an oal of 1.15. |
