how to determine what kind of barrel i have

so i blindly bought a box of rifled deer slugs the other day without reading the box, and this morning i was lookin at it and it said something about the slugs not being sable to be used in certain barrels. i havea remington 870 express defender 18" and was wondering if i can use them with this gun or not? heres a link for the shells: http://www.winchester.com/products/c...S15&bn=1&use=3

If your Express should have a cyl bore or Improved cyl bore, marked on the top left side of the barrel it well shoot this round fine.

If your Express has a rifled Bore (doubtful but check), then this is not the right round, you want sabot slugs.

It's simple...

look thru the barrel at white painted wall or sunny concrete (strong light).

If it smooth-looking, its a regular shotgun barrel, if you see spiraling lines then it rifled.

The smoothbore will use the regular "Foster" slug or "Brenneke" slug for hunting.

The rifled barrel will need the sabot shell for best accuracy.

Do you have choke tubes, then you can buy a after-market tube with rifling to use the sabot.
