Need Load Suggestions for .223 / AR-15

Hello All,

I've decided to go ahead and build a black rifle to start shooting CMP and maybe some IPSC 3-gun matches, and I am looking for suggestions for some loads that might work for these two sports. I might also branch out into some Varmint hunting later, but figured I'd get a different upper for that.

Here is what I have right now:

Standard A2 with 20" 1 in 9 twist molychrome heavy barrel, ODCMP legal freefloat tube, National Match sights (1/4 MOA adjust), RRA 2-stage trigger and a Turner Sling.

Now I just need some idea of what might work best in such a set-up.

Well my .223 is a Savage, but I have a 1-9" barrel. I have great luck with 69 grain Sierra MatchKings over 25 grains of Win 748, and also with 75 grain Hornady A-Max over 22.5 grains of 748.

I have had ok results with 40 grain bullets out to 100 yards, but pretty much everything else stinks up until the heavy bullets, which I shoot out to pretty decent distances.

As always, your mileage may vary.
