I've often wondered why you couldn't have a gun whose bore lined up with the middle of your grip so there was * - 0 - * muzzle rise. This isn't it but getting closer.

S&W made the Escort and 422 autos that had the barrel on the bottom. And being in 22lr they had no recoil.

I have been following the Laugo Alien for a while. Maybe it will be the Real Improvement that the Strike One was not.
One thing for sure, it is VERY expensive.
They got hurt when a CZ rep got the Alien disallowed from IPSC Production Optics because the dot sight mounted on the "upper slide" (sight rail) and not on the moving slide. They have devised an awkward looking side of slide mount to meet that requirement.

ISSF requires that the bore axis be above the hand, a rule put in to eliminate a Soviet rapid fire pistol built completely upside down, the bore was about in line with your ring finger if not pinkie. So I doubt any European maker is going to design a centered barrel gun.

At this stage, the lower barrel's recoil will be
countered by a similar caliber barrel on the
upper exiting a bulet in the opposite direction.

The Davis Recoilless fired a shell forward and blew a glob of Vaseline and lead powder backwards. Stand back.
A later version just launched the cartridge case to the rear. Stand WAY back.

Well they are not going to sell very many at that price when you look at the competition and the fact that MANY (if not most) good 9mms can be had for under $1000,and several for way under.

Well, yes, you can pay a lot less if you just want a serviceable weapon or a "range gun."
But these will go to competitors who are glad to pay whatever it takes to make an IPSC CoF just a little faster. And to bac1023 if he judges their quality + oddity factor adequate.

It's creative. I will note that the last delayed gas blowback I heard of (Walther CCP I think) got hot pretty fast as it was shot.

Looks like there isn't a way around a reciprocating mass above one's hand so far. The mass contributes to muzzle flip. But they did minimize the amount of mass by isolating the roll of the middle of the slide with the top which holds the sights. If it were cheaper and more common with good aftermarket/factory support I'd probably try one.
