Keltec KSG410 issue
Picked one up for $350 not too long ago and just got around to patterning it at the range. At 25yds if shoots insanely low with everything I ran through it. 2.5” slugs, 2.5” buckshot, and 3” buckshot. All consistently very low and just a little left. I knew it would probably shoot a tad low due to the sighting system being so high over the bore but I was aiming at the silhouettes head and neck region just to get the shots on the cardboard target. I didn’t want to give up on the gun because I do like it a lot and it’s quite handy so I purchased a picatinny rail kit for it from Keltec. I think the red dot sits a little lower than the carry handle sights did but not by much but maybe it’ll help some. My question is: does the location of the red dot on the rail have any effect on point of impact? I read somewhere that I should mount the red dot as far forward on the rail (closer to the muzzle) as I can stand it to help bring the point of impact up. Is there any validity to this?

Interesting ,
Look at where the manufactures are locating their optic ready red dot cut outs on the receivers . Mount it where you like and zero the red dot to point of aim, point of impact. The further away you mount it from your eye the smaller the window of view. The closer to your eye the bigger the window of view thru the red dot. |
