Ruger LCR in .327 Federal

Good morning gentleman, first post here.

Huge fan of the LCR. Prefer a snub, hammerless (for a pocket/jacket carry if necessary) and would likely run a CT laser grip.

Thoughts are this is an easy toss in garment gun for short trips and a lot less cumbersome than the usual Tier1Concealed Axis Elite setup I usually run.

Anyone own one? If so would you comment on your preference to .327 over .357?

Thank you. Happy to be here

IMO they are essentially equal in performance since it’s all about shot placement between the two.

If you’re not recoil sensitive then that point is moot as well in a snubby size frame.

Cost per shot, the nod goes to the 357/38 spl.

If shot placement matters then you generally have one extra opportunity to make that shot with the 327.

Cost per shot doesn't mean much when the defensive ammo is priced the same. Actually, the Hornady Critical Defense is probably less for .327 because it comes in a 25 rd box, not 20.

I only several revolvers and, when not carrying a Glock, I'm likely carrying a J-frame or LCR.
Of these revolvers, I do have an LCRX in .327FedMag and an S&W 432UC in .32HRMag. It is a nice feeling to have a 6th round available vs. the 5-shot .38/.357 J-frames.

I've also got four .38/.357 J-frames which I had prior to getting the two .32/327 revolvers. It'll just depend on my mood as to which revolver/revolvers I might decide to carry at the moment.

Get both calibers and guns. There's no right or wrong as to which to buy/carry. Just have whichever gun on you should you ever need it.

I suppose I'm saying to spend that hard-earned money and buy both or several...so many guns; so much time; so much money. Life is good.

Or you find a nice Colt D frame with the sixth shot - about the same size as the J frame.

I have something similar in the Rock Island M206 and it is bigger, which isn't what I'm looking for when my goal is to carry more rounds in a revolver. Further, it's not always about the extra round, but the lower recoil and improved accuracy.

I've been calling for a modernized H&R Young America, which was smaller than even S&W's I frame which has been long discontinued.

Besides .327, all .32's have an issue with expanding hollow point bullets from a short barrel, but so does .38 and with solid bullets (wadcutters are becoming a preferred load for me in a snub) the .32's can do everything the .38's can but with less recoil and less reloading.

The hotter 32s, like the 32HRM or 327 will expand nicely; no way I am shooting a 357 out of a LW snub; 5 hits with a 32 beats misses with a 357

If I put my dad's 1920s Colt against the J frame, (steel frame) weight and size are almost identical. Now, the Colt has an exposed hammer so no pocket carry, but in a holster OWB, I'd take that over a 5 shot J frame

If you want to carry OWB that's fine, but when people are talking about .32 revolvers they're focused more on small frames and IWB or pocket carry for enhanced concealment.

I have three .327 revolvers and have previously owned more.
The SP101 and LCR are a nice package for 6 shots. The LCR's lighter weight makes it nice for CC, and the trigger is far superior.

But, I don't carry the LCR with .327 Federal in the chambers. I carry it loaded with .32 H&R.
The muzzle blast from full power .327 is guaranteed hearing damage, and .32 H&R is adequate for the job (with, hopefully, less hearing damage).

In the past, I carried a S&W 642. So, similar story. Rather than .357 Mag, I opted for .38 Special.

I did not shoot that 642 very well, due to the size of my hands. The LCR, however, I shoot better than almost any other handgun that I own. Even with those basic sights and the short barrel, I shoot the LCR better at 90-100 yards than most handguns at ~25 yards.

I would be happy as a clam with an I frame size 5 shot in 32h&r mag. A real pocket revolver that doesn't feel like you have an orange in your pocket. I guess I understand it's probably quite expensive to tool for a frame size not currently in production, and I'm not sure the sales would be there. Us revolver shooters are a very small part of the gun community. Still it's nice to dream.

I have an LCR in .327 mag. The factory grips make the gun nearly uncontrollable when shooting.327 mag loads as the grip is too small for my large hands. I upgraded to the larger Hogue grips without the finger grips and it’s much more shootable. The gun disappears into my pocket and is a joy to carry. And it’s very hard hitting. I’m a big fan.
