V. Bernardelli SXS needing a stock
My buddy has an old Bernardelli SXS in 12 ga. with a broken stock. The only description on the gun is:
V. Bernardelli, Gordon VT Acciaia Special Extra Canne Cromate Model 66506 I haven't been able to find much online about this specific gun but I would imagine the stock would be available someplace? Or will it be better to just attempt to fix the stock? Thanks. Joe

Thanks for the translation of the phrase, that is a help.
I sent Bernardelli co. an email inquiring about the stock, we will see where that goes. Joe

Bernardelli was not much help on that stock. Any other ideas will be welcomed!

With many better quality Euro double shotguns, like your Bernadelli, the stock is generally made-to-order, and specifically fitted to each gun - and so are not interchangeable, like something pulled from a parts bin.
There's geneally two options: 1) Repair & refinish the broken stock. 2) Make (or have made, aka $$$) a new buttstock, usually from one of the many gunstock companies that offer shotgun stocks. (Checkering would be extra) . |

Most stock suppliers have stock duplicating machines. You said you stock is broken; but, is it in a good enough condition that would allow it to be used as a pattern? A while back, there was a TFL member who was asking for stocks to duplicate so he could try out his new machine. Sadly, it seemed he was having a hard time giving away new stocks. |

As long as the head is intact, a duplicating machine can be used for the most important aspects - the inletting in that area - however, final finishing and fitting will still need to be done
Bernadelli made a lot of production guns, to basic "average" dimensions - you know, those average dimensions that never seem to fit anyone - so another stock from the same model should work, IF you can find someone parting out a gun |
