Odd Colt SAA serial prefix
Hello; I have the opportunity to buy a Nice Colt SAA, 45LC, Cased, Blue, 4.75", black plastic grips with rampant pony in oval but no eagle, clean nice gun. The problem is the serial #. It is TF06295. I didn't think Colt made any SAA's either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen, that had a TF prefix. All the other markings look right..Colt's patent mfg. on the top of the barrel, Colt single action army .45 on the side of the barrel. Non-removable firing pin bushing. Can anyone on here give me any information? Thanks!

It should be a Colt Cowboy. The thread on the Colt Forum is tracking serial numbers and variations, etc. John
http://hunting.about.com/od/guns/l/aastcoltcowboya.htm www.coltforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14456 From post #10: "Michael: The serial numbers for the Colt Cowboy were TF00001 to TF99999. They were made in .45 caliber, 44/40 caliber, and 38/40 caliber. They had 4 3/4" barrels, 5 1/2" barrels, and 7 1/2" barrels. Best regards," |
