What's the name of this part(s)??
I just picked up a Mossy 500 (with pistol grip) and I wanted to swap it out with the ProMag 6-Position Collapsible Buttstock Set. This set came in the mail the other day....with no installation instructions! Okay, so I can kind of figure out where everything is supposed to go but i need some help to identify these 2 parts (circled in red and bigger view).... What are they? and where do they go?/use for? ...Also, if anyone can please give some insight/tips on how to install this set correctly, that would be appreciated....i just don't want to miss anything.

Have you contacted Pro Mag or who ever you ordered it from? Do they have a web site?

I'm pretty sure the T-shaped part is the tool for removing/installing the nut holding the forearm on. Not sure what the other part is.

Yes, you're right about the T-shape tool... and the other piece looks like a tube adapter of some kind. I just wrote ProMag industries to see if they can help. Thanks!

What looks like a tube adapter may be a tool for removing and replacing the fore-end assembly form the mag tube.

I love it how ProMag sends no instructions and you're left playing the guessing game

The T tool, as the other posters have mentioned, is for front tube nut removal.
The round piece may be an adapter for the forend. Mossburg has made two forarm styles, a long and a short. I think it fits so the raised tab fits into the slot of the replacement forend. It acts as a rear spacer, making a short into a long. At least that's how it looks to me from your pics. I have no experience with that particular stock set. |
