"Binocular" rifle scope?

In the "so why don't they..." I heard a conversation about why doesn't any company build a binocular rifle scope.

No idea on my part other than double the cost.

Has anyone here ever heard of such?

To see through two lenses like binocular pretty much need to have the optic centered between the eyes. Might be possible for pistol in a two hand grip but the ergonomics for a rifle are mind boggling.

The question might also be in the "what problem is this intended to solve?"

I don't know what the point would be. Unless the primary objectives were yards apart, it's not like it would give you enough stereoscopic depth of field to better estimate the range of a target. Incorporating a laser range finder in a single optic makes more sense to do than that and would be dramatically less clumsy. If it is to overcome an individual's inability to ignore what the weak eye is seeing, that's really just a matter of practice.

The Swarovski BTX is a huge spotting scope (singular objective) with a binocular eyepiece. It is awesome.

Several reasons.
Like was mentioned, how are you going to get over the rifle for both eyes to look through?

Cost.

How is the reticle to line up with 2 separate lenses?

King Of 2 Miles teams use 2 spotting scopes mounted like huge binoculars.
And i've seen the Swarovski spotting scope with 2 eye pieces.

But 2 scopes mounted to a rifle, just doesn't seem logical.
