Upcoming Training: Post Your Training Events Here
Got info on an upcoming school? Post your times, dates, locations, subject matter and instructors here instead of in separate threads. This way your information won't get lost in the daily thread shuffle.
Note: Old posts in this thread have been deleted to keep room for newer information. I did my best to only toss the classes that have already gone, not anything still upcoming. If you posted something that should still be here because the class is still in the future, please send a PM to me, aka pax. Thanks!

Bob Marvel Custom 1911 Classes
Deep River Customs, a maker of quality 1911 pistols, is proud to sponsor Bob Marvel, who will be teaching custom 1911 courses in Asheboro, NC, beginning in April 2015.
Bob Marvel is nationally and internationally acclaimed for his craftsmanship in building exceptionally reliable and accurate 1911 pistols. In the past thirty years he has built national championship and world championship winning pistols, as well as pistols for the military, law enforcement, and for civilian use. Bob is well known for a series of .22/1911 conversion designs, 1911 design improvements, and products for the 1911, as well as being a consultant in the firearms industry. This will be a thorough, comprehensive 10 day course to teach the participants how to build a custom 1911 pistol using specific knowledge of each part. The requirement for the 10 day schedule is due to the amount of information, knowledge, and custom pistol building skills that are to be passed on to the students. Simply put, five days is not enough time. The classes will involve supervised “hands-on” training, lectures, class discussion, trouble shooting, range time and reviews. At the end of the course, each student will walk away with a custom built 1911 pistol, knowledge of how the pistol works, and how to build and repair 1911 pistols from the training acquired in class. Brief course overview: Introduction and basic gunsmith hand tool use Slide to frame fit including breech prep, extractor, firing pin stop, feeding relief Barrel preparation and barrel/bushing fit Action work – trigger, hammer, sear, disconnector Frame work – grip safety, thumb safety, mainspring housing, ejector, plunger tube, magazine tuning Sights Range – test fire along with malfunction and troubleshooting instruction Detailed information can be found on the Deep River Customs website: www.deeprivercustoms.com |

Bob Marvel Custom 1911 Classes, Asheboro, NC
MESSAGE FROM BOB MARVEL:
“I appreciate the tremendous support and feedback you have given for my 1911 classes to be taught beginning in April of 2015. As a result of your feedback, I have decided to modify the time frames of my classes by decreasing the course length from 10 days to 7 days. Hopefully, by decreasing the class length, participants will encounter fewer conflicts with family responsibilities and work schedules. Rest assured that I will maintain the same rigors and level of instruction of the original class schedule in the 7 day course. I will be able to cover the same material and provide the same quality of instruction by decreasing the maximum class size from 14 to 7 participants. The minimum class size will be 6 students. The cost of the course will remain the same as the quality of instruction and end products will not be affected. Thank you again for your feedback and your support for my 1911 classes.” Bob Marvel REVISED CLASS SCHEDULE FOR 2015 Bob Marvel 1911 CLASSES: April 12th though April 18th September 13th though September 19th **The June class is closed to enrollment Please visit the Deep River Customs website for more information and to make arrangements to attend the class – www.deeprivercustoms.com. |

Rangemaster Combative Pistol Course, Denver, CO, area
Combative Pistol Course, Denver, CO, area, July 11-12, 2015
On July 11-12, Tom and Lynn Givens will be teaching a two day Combative Pistol Course in Ramah, Colorado, near Denver. This is one of our rare appearances in the Rocky Mountain states. This is an intensive weekend course that covers all of the essential skills involved in fighting with a handgun. There is an all day session Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am to 6:00pm each day. Topics covered in this course will include: • Rapid presentation from concealed carry • Effective gun handling techniques, designed to work under stress • Rapid reloading techniques • High speed accuracy at close ranges • Precision shooting at mid-ranges • Shooting effectively with one hand, with either hand • Fixing malfunctions rapidly and reliably • Proper defensive mindset, personal tactics, and more. Expect to fire about 800-1000 rounds of ammunition. This course is designed expressly for the armed citizen who carries a concealed handgun, or the plain clothes or off duty police officer. You will need a good handgun, holster, belt, and magazine pouch, at least three magazines, a ball cap and concealment garment (vest, jacket, windbreaker, etc), eye and ear protection, and rain gear (we train rain or shine). A cooler with soft drinks and snacks is a very good idea. You will need a quality handgun and gear. It is a good idea to bring a second gun just like your primary, in case something breaks on your primary gun. Please bring good quality ammunition. You will shoot better, your gun will function better, and you will learn faster. Leather or kydex holsters are fine—PLEASE NO flimsy nylon or cloth holsters. For more info, please email [email protected]. |

Getting Started
Good afternoon all;
I've just registered / signed up for a Concealed Carry Permit course. It's Saturday 10:00 to 1:00. Looking forward to the experience. The course is being given by Florida Gun Supply at their store in Inverness, FL. Should anyone have a comment, pro or con, I'd appreciate all input. I'm a little new at this game and need what help I can get. Hope I don't sound lame, but I guess most new kids do. Garfield |
