Why the HK P7 is superior to the Glock.
The HK P7 is the superior striker fired pistol.
There are three reasons for this...the three S's. The HK P7 is Steel. The HK P7 is Slim. The HK P7 is Safe. Three things the Glock falls short in. Just my opinion...everybody has one. |

Man! I love responding to threads like these...
Kind of like purposefully taking my shoes off before trying to tiptoe across hot coals without getting a heat blister on my little toes.
Nothing like a well placed and worded statement with conviction to get TFLers across the country riled up! I own a P7 and want a G36 badly. I think the P7 is better for the aformentioned reasons, but there's a place for the Glock.....right inside my gunsafe. |

I own six HK P7s and fifteen Glocks. I also own three Sigs, four Walther P99s, an HK USP, a Walther P5 Compact, and a few others. Each brand/model has its own strong and weak points. Which is best is subjective. Which is best is really a factor of who is going to use it, and the intended purpose.
HK P7s are slim, compact, and have a unique safety system that is fast and simple. They also get dirtier quicker, and related to this, their gas system is somewhat sensitive to ammo. The dirtier the ammo, the more often the gas system needs cleaning. The frame, particularly around the trigger guard, gets hot after extensive shooting. Do these prevent me from buying and enjoying HK P7s? Nope. Not in the slightest. Simply being aware of the weaknesses and how to work around them, and knowing the strengths and how to exploit them, is sound advice. |

The P7 also has another honor, of being Uglyer than any Glock.Few handguns can match the P-7 in the Ugly Department. But they are extreamly safe, accurate and reliable.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....
I think the P7 is one of the "sexiest" pistols in existence!!! I'm sure you will find many forum members who feel the same way. The Glock isn't necessarily ugly - it's just not pretty! (and yes, I own both!) |

"The HK P7 is Steel."
yah "The HK P7 is Slim." yah "The HK P7 is Safe." Go give a Glock and a P7 to a drunk person who's ready to raise hell (Im talking an unruley person here) You'll notice neither is safe. I LOVE the p7, work of art in my mind. Glock's are excellent handguns as well. I can definitely see where you're going, Glock has no "manual" safety - P7 has the nifty squeeze cocker. I obey the four rules, they are now a part of me - either of the above mentioned pistols is safe for me. I think it's better to say a P7 is safer in the hands of a negligent person than a Glock. I'm not entirely sure this is true, all you have to do is grip the P7 and it's ready to go, provided the action was worked. |

Lunde has the right idea with this.
I love my P7, but it does have some weaknesses -- including a couple that Lunde didn't mention (like a really weak factory bluing). Working around the weaknesses that different guns have is part of the fun. Glocks don't float my personal boat, but I am not going to say that they are "crappy". In fact, I think that they are fine weapons -- just not for me. As far as the P7 being ugly... I think that it is one of the sweetest pistols around. The Glock is a utilitarian tool, i.e. it lacks the curves and refinement of the P7 as far as looks are concerned, IMHO. Oh well, in the eye of the beholder I guess... |

To each, according to their tastes.
I would point out however, that the Glock also has a squeeze-cocker... it's called the trigger!

Hmmm. Lemme run check the gun cabinet... Nope, nothing going on in there; P7 and Glocks still gettin' along fine. Addendum: Let's compare my P7 to my G29 & G30. Weight: About the same, loaded; Glock may be an ounce or two heavier. Length: P7 is about .25" shorter. Width: P7 is about .25" narrower. Height: P7 is about .5"-.75" taller. Mag capacity/Caliber: P7 gives you 8+1 of 9x19mm; G29/30 give you 10+1 of 10mm Auto or .45 ACP, respectively. Reliability: Both are boringly reliable. While the P7M8 scores big points on raw swoopitude, it's hard to ignore 10+1 rounds of serious big-bore punch in such a compact, rugged and rust-resistant design as the G29/30. |

Try to shoot 300 rounds through your P7 without wearing gloves!! Physics note: the powder gases are hot. They are fed back to run the pistol. True enough, but don't forget that metal is a excellent conductor of heat. Polymer isn't!! But, just for the record, my P5 (which is a better pistol than the P7 anyway) has the same problem!!!

My (insert brand here) ROCKS!
Your (insert other brand here) SUCKS! Both are mechanical objects that have various positives and negatives. As soon as I find the perfect gun that does everything super well, with no compromises I will let you all know. I still haven't found that .454 Casull, 30+1 capacity, recoils like a .22, fits in my pants pocket, 1/4 inch groups at 100 yards, 3 ounce, 100% reliable, great trigger, telepathic safety, auto-aiming, self cleaning, under $100, super wonder pistol. |

Yes, but will it feed almost any ammo reliably and safely (within SAAMI limits of course)? The Glock won't. I'm betting the P7 won't either.
Now, Tanfoglio, there's a pistol |

2. I prefer a thicker gun (thick spreads out recoil better). 3. Glocks are also safe. Let me clarify: if the user is intelligent and keeps her finger off the trigger until ready to fire, there can NOT be an AD. In conclusion, I agree with point 1 (frame material), but that is really subjective though. I respectfully disagree on points 2 and 3. We all have different opinions of course, and I respect your opinions. |

"At two-and-a-half times the price, it darn well better be! "
Careful, Tamster. I get chastised routinely for raising this comparative price-point. And some of these irritable HK lovers are from a certain State in the union where they didn't hesitate to charge unsuspecting Olympic tourists $8.00 for a bottle of beer. ( ) Tribes. Ya gotta love 'em. |

I have three routers, two Bosch and a Craftman. They are tools and all do a specific job.
I have two P7's that I'm very fond of, and two Glocks that I don't plan on getting rid of. The gun world is going to be an sad place the day that HK decides to stop production of the P7. |

When I saw this thread I literally groaned...
But darn if this isn't the most civil discussion you could ask for. Considering the highly flamable subject.
A few less discussed items, The P7Mx has a chamber loaded indicator. I really like this feature. I wish my Sigs had it. The PSPs lack this feature. I prefer the Glock mag release. Of course, I liked the idea behind the non-drop free mags. You know the Glock engineers had to laugh when people started asking for a quick-release on a 17 round gun. I consider the P7's mag-release one of its' biggest flaws. I have considered having the wings of my P7 mag release machined flat. Also, the Glock often gets kudos for having a low bore axis--the P7 has, as far as I can tell, the lowest bore-axis availible on an autoloader. I think this accounts for the "low-recoil" that some feel the P7 has. Still, they are both nice. The P7 also has a nice 110 degree grip angle. I think most people agree that the P7 points better than the glock. GHB
