Throught my years of dodgeing Darwin (some narrow escapes) I found, Whatever I have at the time that works is what I like...eg...my buddie is a Yamaha freak, lives, breathes, blue blood, and all,,dislikes Honda a lot, that's what I got. His Yamamaha went broke on a trip from Tulsa and he was happy to get a ride from a Honda. Another eg..different buddie, Chevy certified NUT,4wd of course, always running down my Nissan,,,Chevy got stuck in the middle of BFE and Nissan pulled him out,,he now has a tight lip about that.

This thread has outlived its usefulness. I would suggest that the originator eliminate it. Or, a responsible moderator do so.

When you buy a Glock or an HK or a Harley or a Honda or a Macintosh, you're not just getting a product, you're getting admission to the tribe.
Which is exactly what the various companies want. They want you to feel special because you own a X, they want that brand loyalty and go to extreme lengths to get and keep it. Glock sponsers 'Glock only' matchs, Sig has a magazine they send to people who buy a new Sig and send in a postcard Corvette owners always wave to each other on the road etc etc etc.

On top of that people really don't like to look stupid to them selves or others so will defend their choices, both good and bad.

I like what I have, Thats why I have it. In other words I shoot what I like, I ride or drive what I like, I don't give a rats A$$ if you like it or not, I can see you enjoy what you have and really enjoy watching you shoot or ride what you have, If it shoots straighter
(doubtful) good for you, If it goes faster Get your butt down the line and sit and wait for me or keep going if that makes you happy, I can't afford a bunch of guns to sit in this house that is paid for and my family is safe inside, I can tell you this for sure, When its all over I hope you have enjoyed life and each other as much as I have.

As a reformed revolver owner and disciple of Gunfu Sensei on the path of semi-automatic enlightenment, I warn you all that you are heretics. You are not supposed to like what you own. You must own Glocks or be eternally damned.

Why can some people not objectively discuss their preferences in guns, cars, PC's, whatever, without using the words "sucks", "rules", "junk", "fool", "garbage", "ultimate", and such?
You're just toying with the Silly Little Tribes because you don't really expect a definitive answer to that question.

Another in the same vein is "Why can some blondes post Silly Little Questions without even using descriptive titles and yet get a bunch of responses (and some invitations) while others get thoroughly ignored when they do the same thing?"

Both questions have the same answer: human nature. Viva human nature! How boring things would be without it....

A reasonable generalization about a large part of our society is that we tend to define ourselves in terms of job, money, and posessions.

For some, it's keeping up with the Joneses; for others, it's exceeding the Joneses.

Those who get excited about what particular brand of critter they use, to the point of flaming and all that nonsense, do indeed fit the above, particularly the "exceeding" part.

And then there are those of us who don't give a hoot about the Joneses, in any way, shape or fashion. I call it the utilitarian approach: If it works good enough to suit me, it's good enough to suit me. Other peoples' opinions are a matter of indifference.

Seems that brand loyalty would be a marketing communications issue...and that's another topic altogether.
