Favorite for plinking? for self defense?, for deer hunting?, for collecting?, for small game? for target shooting? for what, specifically? and if you say "for everything" there isn't any one brand that does that, for me. I am model specific more than brand and feature specific in my preferences. Many of my favorite pistols are out of production, and in several cases, the companies that made them no longer exist. Since this is the semi auto forum, I'll stick to semi auto pistols. For a .22 sport pistol, my favorite is the Ruger Mk I target. The 6 7/8" taper barrel, not the bull barrel. I've had one since 1983. The rest of Ruger's semi auto pistols don't appeal to me much, and I dislike ALL their centerfire models. I don't like any of S&Ws centerfire semi autos, past, or present. I detest all Glocks. For 1911a1/Government models, my preference is Colt. Pre 1970s Colts, to be specific. I could go on, but my point is that as a blanket brand that is my favorite to cover everything, I don't have one, nor, do I think there is one, not for me, anyway.

Right now is SDS/TISAS copy of the 1911. I have 3 of them and would have more as soon as I can scrape up the money.

Nobody said Remington? I might of chosen them 25 years ago.
For me now, it would be CZ or Beretta. I have guns from CZ and Beretta that are really old and I have new ones. They all shoot perfect and the fit and finish is top notch. To me, it is what a gun should be.

For semi-autos, Colt.

If you exclude the original FN/Browning Hi-Power, favorite brand is Smith and Wesson.

Brand probably S&W, at least it’s the most of one brand I own.
My favorite pistol is a blued rifle 4-3/4” Ruger MkII Standard Model. |

When I do a head count I have more Berettas than any other brand. I like Beretta, but I wouldn't have said it was my hands-down favorite brand until I did that exercise. Of those, I am particularly fond of the 92FS Inox. But I like variety.

Depends on the job!
No favorite brands here. Since we are in the semi auto handgun category? There are lots of guns I like, the task at hand determines what the favorite will be.
I like Colt, and Glock and Ruger and Kel-Tec and High Standard and H&R and many other brands. So many darn good guns, so little time!

We should get at least 2 choices, pistol and revolver and maybe 4, big and little. Actually 6 choices would be more fair, Stainless and blued steel. Well then there is range gun [targets] and carry guns, this aint gonna work!!!!

Since this is the autoloader's forum, based on that, my favorite semi-auto brand is colt, because my favorite semi-auto is the Colt 1911 with the Lightweight Commander being my favorite carry gun.
But that aside, second in line is Glock, with my favorite being a Glock model 22, and 19X |

Like my shovel I don’t care how they look. So far my best working guns are a Charter Arms Mag Pug, and Kel-Tek P17. Have an old H&R 999 that had a round explode at the rim that jams up now and then. Taking it apart soon. Hopefully it’s dust a small piece of brass from the exploded round. Have a Charter Arms 22 that was inaccurate but lapping the crown has made it acceptable. If it works well and cheap I love it.

Star. I have a compulsion to buy them whenever I see them at a good price. Super heavy. All metal (not talking about you Ultrastar). They are just something that isn't offered anymore and probably never will be.
Pre US-made Sigs, especially before 1991. |

I'm seeing no mention of Taurus. Is Taurus not good enough to even speak poorly of?
Taurus Hard to pick a fav. Between a g2c-9mm, 1911, and the judge, they're all so different from each other. So when I'm cc, the 9 is obvious goto. At home the acp1911 is it. In rare cases of open carry, the judge. And to pick a favorite |
