Still..in a general sense it doesn't make sense. That's like me joining a Taurus forum then.
One thread does not a whole forum make. I like to hear the naysayers on any product. Every once in a while they bring up a valid point. Plus I'm an antagonist.

I will be very interested in the price point. With the Shield available in the $400-$450 range around me, I wonder where Glock will come in?

Glock will have to step up their game to compete in either the 9mm or .380 space, asi it already crowded with major players. This bodes well for the consumer, as more competition is better all other things being equal.

I found this poking around online. Seems to be the most legitimate of what I have found. http://www.migunowners.org/forum/sho...d.php?t=272099
So a long slide 45 and a 380. Ok.... I love my P380. I have wanted a PPS for a while. SO does this Glock 380 (if it is true) an attempt to get the market of pocket pistols for Glock fans whom had to buy another brand to go small??

Glock has always been a "major player" and they are doing just that. (Stepping up their game) With their new ideas opening up to pocket guns.

Not everyone likes pocket guns. I may start with buying my first one after January 2014.

I don't see anything Glock can bring to the table that these excellent pistols don't already offer.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with more competition.

Cause they haven't already sweeped almost every other manufacturer with sales.

We'll see just how "true" that statement is after January / the release date.

It's not really a new idea. It's them finally recognizing a market trend and trying to grab a piece of it.

Have they? Man I need to run down to my LGS and tell people to stop buying S&W, Ruger, Springfield, Walther, HK, etc. I also need to let the State Police in my tri-state area know so they can turn in their M&Ps and cancel the contracts they started a few years back. Is Glock still king? Most likely. But sweeping the others? I'm not sure,

I'm curious if the expansion of US production of Glock pistols is a factor here.

If it is indeed a .380, it is directly tied to US manufacture, since a standard Glock pistol chambered in .380 can't be imported.

In fact, Glock starting up US production is the single strongest indication that this is a .380, IMO. Not to say that they started US production JUST to make a .380 but it's really the main missing component in their line up.

Love Glocks.

Hate their numbeeing scheme.

I think that the ad is reference to width of lighter. I hope its more reliable than pos zippo!

I really want a modern tokarev glock!

And that's the good thing.......more competition.

The problem with new releases is that they always have bugs. It seems as though no manufacturer can get it done right the first time. To be fair, this isn't limited to firearms. The consumer always ends up being the Testing & Evaluation guinea pig.

This is true, bit due to the Internet is incredibly overblown in recent times. Companies obviously do a fair bit of testing during R&D before moving into T&E.

There are simply certain things that can only be discovered through hundreds or thousands of users testing the product. I'm rather fond of early adoptions like this. The odds are in your favor of receiving a well made gun, so you get to be one of the first with a new model. You can become an expert on it among your peer group and assist others or answer questions. You may find some bugs, but this most reputable companies will either repair it or replace it in order to make it right.

I don't carry a gun until I've run hundreds of trouble free rounds through a gun, so I'm not afraid of it failing when my life is on the line, but there is a 'cool factor' involved when you get a gun that is new to market.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with the idea of waiting a year or two to see what potential problems might be. There are plenty in both camps. Choose your destiny.

I'm looking forward to it being:
Clean smooth-sided with no humps/bumps/levers or excessive machining (just like current Glocks)
Simple operation without LCI's, etc..
Durable with a good coating.

Let's set this straight because we all know this WILL happen next year,

THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH YOUR GLOCK 42, REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY PARTS REVISIONS. ALL ISSUES ARE ISOLATED AND DUE TO OPERATOR ERROR.

oh I say this but I'll probably buy another and whine about it

New line of Glock pistols

In my experience (and among my circle of friends), while most people own one or maybe two of these compact pistols, they are seen as functional for CCW. Very few people seem to accumulate significant numbers of these types of pistol as they might with medium or large frame pistols or revolvers.

I wonder how many people have already satisfied their demand for a small and thin gun by buying one of the many offerings from other manufacturers? Will many have actually held off buying in the hope that Glock would eventually offer a similar pistol?
If it's small enough, and it works, I'd buy the Glock, and sell or trade the Kahr.

Unlike current Glocks? Why would they put them on every current production Glock but this one?

The little nib on the edge of the extractor doesn't count as a loaded chamber indicator to most people. I'm sure he was referring to the big ole' switch that pops up like the XD/XDM/Ruger/etc style guns. The vision hole in M&P series is unobtrusive enough as well.

I've never liked LCI. Ruger and XD's annoy me in their styling of one.

That's BS and have never had any FTF problems with the 5 or 6 I've used. I did however polish the feed ramp. Although it was probably not needed, I just do it to all semi autos. I've never measured what the trigger pull is, but doesn't feel like 8 lb either.
You should probably read Sig's web site which lists it at 7.5-8.5 pounds, and then measure your own gun. The one my wife had pulled in at 8.2 pounds.

The field is pretty packed and they aren't the low cost player in this space unless they really drop the price. As noted though, as a consumer more competition is better.

Off the top of my head:
Kahr (5-25 models at any time it seems)
Kel-Tec
Ruger LC9
Springfield XDS
S&W Shield
Beretta Nano (I think, I know they have one)
Sig (two types-the 986 and the DAO type)
Taurus something
Walther PPS
Kimber Solo (yes even Kimber)
10,000 officer sized 1911s

What I am curious about is if the G42 is indeed a .380, why Glock chose to chamber a new gun in .380?

The popularity of the .380 in the last couple of years has decreased a bit due to the introduction of several 9mm pistols that are nearly the same size as some of the .380s on the market. Most people reason that they would rather have the extra power of a 9mm over the .380 in a small carry gun.

Also, with Glock's history of building large, blocky guns, it will be interesting to see the dimensions of the G42 and compare it to other .380 offerings on the market. My bet is that it will be larger than most, given Glock's track record of building pistols that are larger and wider than most of the competition.

Yup, if it's a .380 definitely count me out. We have two .380 pocket guns and need no more. I've actually stopped pocket carry and switched to IWB a PT709 that could be pocket carried if needed.

If it is a 9 about the same size as my current I may have to do some horse trading to get into one eventually.

So, America was clamoring for a wide brick chambered in .380 ACP? Really?

Glock will sell a lot of them due to brand loyalty and recognition, not because of ingenuity.
