I don't think there is anything wrong with the 320 that would cause the gun to fire all by itself. I don't care for plastic guns as a rule, so I don't own one and probably won't, but I wouldn't be afraid of one! My 229 and 226 are as reliable as taxes. I did sell a 220 because I just didn't care for it, nothing wrong with it though. You guys are worse than a bunch of old ladies LOL!!!!!!!

The military versions all have the manual safety, that may make a difference.

One of his unit's M17s self-destructed on the range recently, so he supervised the tear-down. What he found was bad enough that he has decided to sell his personal P320. Basically, the manual safety blocks the trigger bar, not the sear or the plunger. So the gun can still fire due to inertia or plunger block malfunction even with the manual safety engaged.

I don't have any experience with the P320, but do have other, metal framed, SIGs made in the last 10 years or so. They seem like quality, reliable guns to me, So I don't know that there is an overall decline; but perhaps an issue with a particular model.
Didn't know the SIG president is the former Kimber president. Bothers me not at all. The half dozen Kimbers I've owned were all good guns...

Rapid growth
Really rapid growth. Be very careful what you wish for, you just might discover that a HUGE increase in sales must be well supported by those at Sig that manufacture the products.
A small flaw changes the picture when production volume increases 10 fold. Small "problems" become very large problems.

There's a difference between manufacturing and design. The problems with the P320/M17/M18 appear to be design-based, not caused by sloppy manufacturing.

Agreed. I sold my P320s and haven’t looked back. I also sold my P365s. I carry and shoot H&K now and couldn’t be happier. The only Sigs I’ll own are the classic P series Sigs of German manufacture from before Ron Cohen came aboard when the brand slogan was “To Hell And Back” reliability. You can keep all the current production with made in India MIM parts. No thanks.

Is the FCU on the M17 /18 the same as in the 365? I have not heard of any accidental/negilent incidents with the 365.

The 365 is notably different.

To my knowledge there has never been an internet forum mention of a p365 drop fire or hit fire.
I think the P365 is solid. I think Walther quitely replaced the pps m1 for safety reasons. You can search it out that a fella was getting fire on backstrap decock. Bc of that, i would say the p365 is the micro winner of a gun that is small and robust enough to be near compact full size duty level. Here, Sig gets due credit. No one has bested it in size or modularity. I also recall when Buds was sitting on the most P250rs that never moved with rapid price drops. P320 based off it. It wasnt a flawlessly reliable DA gun either.

What's the allure of these LE trade ins? That they haven't ADed yet? This gives me visions of Clint Eastwood standing there saying "This P320 hasn't accidentally discharged yet! Feeling lucky punk?" |
