Victory!

I finally took out the GB. Kroil, gunzilla, heat, and clamping the barrel in vise and pound the GB with big brass punch and hammer. It finally started moving.

What locked the GB in place wasn't carbon, but some sort of sealant. The white stuff on the journal. That Grendel guy is indeed a lunatic.

The war is over. Time to rebuild. Thank you guys for your help!

Ok this one is weird. The GB journal has diameter of 0.905". I didn't know such dimension existed.

The upper is a thermal fit to the barrel extension. I have to heat the receiver pretty warm to install the barrel. I still need gas tube. The new aluminum free float handguard fit over the over sized GB a bit too closely to my liking. I don't have much confidence it not touching the GB under all circumstances. So I'm going to file the inside ribs a few thous off on all sides to have more clearance.

I'm glad I didn't go nuclear to slice the GB. It would be difficult to find replacement because of the unconventional ID of 0.905".

Another weird thing about the barrel. The muzzle thread is 9/16x24, so I have no choice but to keep the original comp. The barrel must have had shot no less than 5k rounds. It still shoots well though.

Tangolima- They're a little on the spendy side, but I've bought oddball thread size muzzle attachments from Witt Machine and Tool Co.

Thanks. I found thread adapters, so that door is open.
