I have used several thousand Red River bullets. They are made in Minnesota and are sold at local stores and guns shows. They really seem to work well in 44 and 45ACP. I started casting my own a year ago and have not picked any up lately.

A few weeks ago I bought some cast .45 from Sportsman's and found the box they came in this morning it said HSM on it, any one know who they are?
Did a google search and the only thing I could find about them said they appear to not have a web site. These are the very first bullets I have loaded that go to point of aim in my XD Last edited by grubbylabs; July 3, 2010 at 10:40 PM. |

I've had very good results with Lead Head Bullets in my revolvers, especially the 270gr. Keith style. I have also used and like Oregon Trail bullets for my 38 and lever actions. I have some heavy Cast Performance 45's but have only used them a couple times. They too were accurate.

S&S casting0five stars*****
Very clean and do not lead the barrel of .357, .40 or .45's I shoot. They are also the cheapest I have found and to beat it all they arrive packaged in protective carpet backing in 2-3 days. I have ordered from them at least a dozen times and no complaints ever. |

I’m a big fan of Penn Bullets.
There are a lot of good companies making bullets. Let’s face it if they didn’t make a good bullet they are not going to stay in business long and I have tied many companies. What I like about Penn is that you can easily talk to the owner and tell him your problem or need and he will help. He also makes all or most of his bullets with 3 or more diameters so you can tune them for your gun. He also helped me find a large number of round ball from another manufacture at a VERY good price. I use 4 of his bullets, and what impressed me the most with his products is the accuracy of the weight. The difference in bullets of the same weight were better than some large company factory lead rounds and of all the bullets I have used from Penn (10,000 44 alone) I have never seen one single bullet with missing lube in the lube ring of the bullet. The +5 years I have been buying from them I only had one problem with a shipment. Even though the boxes were well packed one was damaged. There was a large hole and you could see that it had been dropped from some height. It had been taped back up by the shipper and several weeks later when I called to order more he asked about the last order and when I told him, without asking he sent me another 100 bullets. And free shipping. |

300/hr? Just got started and my yield w/ a single cavity is more like 3hr/100. I was pretty damned proud of them boolits, too!
![]() Most of the bullets I've bought mail order will go into the pot someday. I couldn't find any that worked for me, now I don't have to! |

I've been buying from Space Coast Bullets. They changed owners a few yrs back but the quality remained. I pick them up at their store so can't say about shipping & delivery.

+1 for Missouri Bullets. I had some 148g DEWC on my doorstep in under three days. The packaging was excellent and the bullets are very consistent.
I loaded some in 38 Special and .357 cases. I used 231 and Unique powder. All of these printed very well with no leading whatsoever. The Unique was a bit smokey and dirtier than the 231 but both performed as well as I can shoot. I would like to send Brad a BIG thank you and Missouri will get my lead bullet business from now on. Peace RJ |

the lead cast fairy I buy copper plated lead from Berry's bullets. I do from time to time have people hand me there cast offs. I load and shoot them then go back to the copper plated. I am speaking of pistol rounds and like everyone else I do have an exception I use fmj in my Luger (it works so much better in terms of feeding and reliability).

I have been using Mastercast bullets for several years now. All of my pistols shoot great with them. Always had great service from them too.

If you don't cast your own, which I do ... you can go to Dardas Bullets. He is the cheapest in the business, and all are lubed with a +1 lube.
I will warn you ... he is backed up about 2 weeks, but they are worth every penny and the wait. http://www.dardascastbullets.com/ |

Where to buy bullets
For .38 148gn L-HBWC, I buy Remingtons from Midway. Most accurate wadcutter I have found in my S&W M52s, I think because it is 0.358 at the head and 0.360 at the hollow base so it starts off filling the bore. It has a messy graphite/grease/oil bullet lube but it doesn't lead the barrels and shoots so well that I have no complaints (and the price is so very good). If I had a need, I would check out the other Remington swaged lead bullets (I just wish they made a .32 L-HBWC).
For .45 200gn L-SWC, I buy from Precision Bullets. Very accurate bullet. If you don't like bullets with a hard Moly-Kote lube, then look at Penn Bullet's 45 Caliber 200 Grain H&G 68 Semi-Wadcutter Match Grade bullet (or target grade for steel shooting). For 9mm and .40/10mm, I buy from either Penn Bullets or Precision Bullets. If I had my druthers, I would buy only swaged semi-wadcutter lead bullets with a 12 Brinell hardness. Precision would be my first choice (if they just offered SWC instead of FPRN) and then, based on what is currently available, Hornady and Speer. However, in the real world, I just can't beat Penn cast bullets in most calibers and I have no complaints (just that I KNOW that a swaged bullet should be more uniform and therefore more accurate--it just doesn't seem to work with what I can find in the real world). A few years ago I bought a large number of cast bullets from NBC. These were not as well cast as Penn, but damn the things shot well. Of course, the company went belly up. I also, bought a large number of bullets from Master Blaster and their 112gn SWC was phenomenally accurate. It, like the bullets from Precision, was a Moly-Koted bullet. Of course, the company went belly up. I have begged Penn not to go belly up on me. Robert Palermo, [email protected], is a great guy who shoots down all my ideas for better bullet designs. What I have learned is, if possible, try out a small batch from several suppliers and then buy a HUGE quantity of those that work best for you. |

Where do I get my cast from? Right here;
Those are 175 grain .401 for my M-22 glock 40 S&W. Just one of many calibers I cast for my weapons. If I ever got lazy or rich, I'd deal with Brad at Missouri bullets. |
