I don't understand why anyone would use slugs in the home.
Isn't there too great a chance of penetration trough walls and greater chance of hitting something you would never want to ? |

You are right about slugs going threw walls but i have 4 reasons why i do ,
1. i have a rifled slug barrel 2. the house i live in has sheetrock over plaster and a outer shell of brick. 3. the ammo i use is a managed recoil slug that doesn't go as fast as normal slugs. 4. i now have made the decision to make it my back up weapon instaed of my primary weapon. |

I think I'd be equally worried if not more so of my interior walls.
Anyway , I guess it's just a personal choice ... I prefer 00Buck myself in a 2 3/4 shell with a .357 back up ... if that aint good enough for home defense , I must be in big trouble. |

Up to today I used 8 00 buck in my 590 with 6 slugs in a side saddle. This was my secondary weopon that is behind the bedroom door. My primary is my Glock 23 in a holster mounted to the night stand just inches from my pillow.
If I hear odd noises that need investigating I use the Glock. If there is a for sure invader in the home I get to the bedroom door with the Glock, pass the 590 to the wife to hold her ground there and I grab the AR and work my way through the house. However I shipped off my 590 this morning for Texas as I traded for a Mossberg 930 SPX. By the weekend the SPX will reside behind the bedroom door I hope. |
