7-08 reload suggestions

I tried IMR 4064 and Varget but can't get the results like I do in my 308. Rem Mod 7 with 20" barrel. Any load or powder suggestions?

Rem Mod 7 with 20" barrel.

My Speer #13 notes that their load data was developed with a 24" barreled Model 700V:

Quote:
"In the 18.5 inch barrel of the Model Seven, expect to see velocities between 80 and 140 f/sec lower....."
So what is the Barrel length for the Model 7? 18.5 or 20" ?

I load for a Ruger Frontier in 7-08, and it has a 16.5" barrel ...... I get 2660 out of Remington 140 gr factory ammo with it, and about 2500 with a load of 40 gr of IMR 4064 behind a 139 gr Hornady soft point.......

I have two Model 7s and use 39 grains of IMR 4064 CCI primers and any Hornady 139 grain bullet.

+1 on the 760 with Speers 145s. I used that for years until inhereting my dad's `06.It was very accurate and very deadly in my Remington. I once shot a boar hog just behind the ear at 200 yards, it went right through and dropped him right there.

Thanks guys. The only bullets I have tried so far are 140g nosler bt's. I will try the speer and hornady. I also heard from someone that has a mod 7 with a 20" barrel that his gun does not like bullets heavier than 130.

That would be an individual gun thing. Is the twist rate 1:10? Even at 11.5 twist, that gun should EASILY stabilize a 140gr bullet even at starting load levels.

My Ruger Hawkeye and model 7 Rem both shoot the 120 grain Nosler BT with 44.5 gr. of Varget. Very accurate in both one inch or better.

I use IMR-4350 with Sierra GameKing 140's in a 22" barrel and have had great results.
