Gas Check Question

New to the site, looking foreword to reading and sharing all the good info.
Got a question right off the bat.
Has anyone tried or know if you can crimp a gas check on a bevel based lead bullet that is not cast for gas checks? I am wanting to use a Lee push through sizer for 230gr .358dia to load 38+P loads.
Thanks.

I've never tried, but don't expect good results. The bevel is not likely to easily accept the gas check evenly around the bullet. Since, as Harry Pope pointed out long ago, the base steers the bullet (it has to be perfectly symmetrical for good accuracy), this has a good chance of introducing some pretty good fliers. Give it a try and let the rest of us know what happens?
