Art of the Gun at the Mitchell Western Art Museum in Trinidad, CO

Mitchell Western Museum in Trinidad is hosting the Art of the Gun from August 12-14. http://www.trinidadstate.edu/gunsmithing/art.html. There will be a talk on Sunday about the Colonial Era rifle, Aug 14. Show will feature firearms from custom makers as well as 22 LR Gatling.

I have been asked to display at the show and having nothing really to show, decided to do a demonstration.

In anticipation of that, I inletted the barrel and tang on a Jim Chambers' Edward Marshall Long Walk rifle. Afterward I began inletting the buttplate (to protect the wood around the toe from being broken). Ideally the kit will be far along enough so I can start doing relief carving on the stock. I had carved a quaker stock in the manner of Albrecht (like on the original Marshall Long Walk rifle).
