Any good gunshops in Las Vegas?
I am supposed to go to Las Vegas [nevada, not new mexico] for a friends' wedding over the weekend toward the end of July. I am not really into the whole "Vegas thing": gambling does nothing for me [I can lose money on my own], I don't like to watch 'shows' [but some are mighty tempting
![]() Do any of you have any recommendations for one with a WIDE selection of firearms and accessories? Also, please let me know if they are NOT open on Saturdays or Sundays, so I can plan my driving time around. Thanks! jms |

I can't help you in finding a place, I think from my previous lurking of this site that someone did mention a store on Tropicana? A that store you could rent various weapons, including what drew my attention, a MP-5. Being in this wonderful state, Illinois, POS, by the way, I was hoping to finally get to see one up close and hopefully get to shoot it. Naturally, my plans all went to hell and I never got a chance. Someone here WILL know the answer, its just a matter of waiting for them to see this topic.

Forget the gun shops..Hit all the big Pawn Shops instead. Super buys can be found if you look around..

Thanks for the pawn shop tip. Actually, if I were buying anything it would be small accessories. Besides, I don't think I can buy any firearms in Vegas if I am a California resident, can I?

You may want to try Fearless Fready's (correct spelling). I don't have their street address, but they're in LV and I bought a Kimber from them at a great price this year. They were very good and fast with communication by phone & email so I would use them again.
I live in CA & they shipped to my FFL, no problem. Try Giving them a call for their address Las Vegas, Nevada Phone: 888-689-1626 |

Try The GunStore on 2900 E. Tropicana. They also have SMGs for rent.

I've got a great suggestion for you!
There is a little, brand-new gun store and range just outside of Vegas. I can't remember the name, but it's easy to find. It's on the highway you take out of Vegas to the southwest if you're on the way to Pahrump (check a map). Anyway, not far out of town you'll see it on the right side of the street. It's brand-new and is run by a bunch of guys who work at Frontsight, the firearms training school. They're a class-act bunch of guys who sell all the guns for cost and make their profit on range time and accessories. (Yeah, that works. My wife's uncle made a fortune in the camera business doing exactly that. Sell the camera at cost and soak 'em for the bags and extra lenses.) Definitely worth a visit. |

The recommended Gunstores:
1. Nevada Pistol Academy/Frontsight, off hwy 160, past the Silverton casino. Guns at Cost! M1As for $1100!! 897-1100 i think. 2. Fearless Fready's: they don't sell pistols over the counter, but have LOTS of tac gear, ammo (even .50 BMG), exotic shotgun rounds, lasers. On sahara; 944-1240. 3. Discount Guns, Boulder hwy. They rent full auto there, and the guns are varied. LOTS of rifles, M1As, HKs, ARs, many pistols in stock. i think these three meet your criteria. many people go to the gun store on trop, but i find that place just plain scary! |

Here are a couple that I frequent:
Machine Gun Kelly's on Sunset Rd, about 2mi. east of the strip and just south of the airport. Nice selection of Class 3, but no rentals. Machine Gun Kellys web site. Bill's Buy and Sell on Fremont St, downtown, about 1 mile east of the strip. Best prices in town. Not much in the way of Class 3, but nice (huge) selection of almost everything else. Be careful, though, as it's located in a seedy part of town. |

Any good gunshops in Las Vegas?
I second Bills buy and sell at 1104 E Fremont. It's 3 blocks east of Las Vegas Ave(the strip)on Fremont in a lousy part of town. He's open tues thru sat 11am to 7pm. Best prices in town. There's lots of cabs in town so you could probably get dropped off and picked up right at the door. There's several small stores located in strip malls throughout the city but their prices are quite high. Bill's does not have a shooting range.
The Gun Store at 2900 E Tropicanna does have a shooting range and he's got just about anything imaginable. Just a short cab ride from the strip.IIRC he's open 7 days a week. |

Bills Buy and Sell seems to have the best selection in town. I do all my shopping (in Las Vegas) at Master's Shooters Supply on Sahara. They don't have a huge inventory, but they have some interesting stuff and Floyd is a great guy. There is a decent shop on Boulder Highway in Henderson. I don't recall the name, but it is associated with a pawn shop. Accuracy also has a decent selection (also on Boulder Highway, but in Las Vegas). For what it's worth, a couple of us locals in Pahrump checked prices with Nevada Pistol Accademy (who advertises that they sell guns at cost). Their prices arn't any better than what we have been getting all along from 23 KPG in Pahrump.

444,
Do you know if Acme pawn & gun still in business?? I think the Tom is the gunsmith there. I'm think about going to Las Vegas in near future, if he still opens, I would like to stop by Pahrump and rent some full auto firearms from this guy. He's got just about everything. |

You might also check out American Shooter's Supply at Arville and Spring Mountain. Decent selection of stuff and nice range where they rent all kinds of goodies (MP5, MAC-10, etc.).
Also Craven's Gun Haven, at 3620 W Sahara Ave. Small store, hard to find. Excellent selection, owner is nice chatty old guy who knows lots. Steve. |

EW, the store is there. I think they sell guns. But I must have missed it's heyday. I was in there once and it was more like you typical Pahrump WT type of place. They had no guns, I asked about it, and they said they had them put away because one particular guy wasn't there. That leads me to believe that there couldn't be very many guns. I never bothered to go back.

One more comment I have to make, and obviously this is just my opinion. I also want to make the disclaimer that I haven't been in there for 10 years but..... American Shooters supply is the rudest, most arrogant, and highest price gun store I have ever been in. I did business with them both as a gun store and as a uniform shop for years until I finally had enough. This wasn't just one incident, although one incident stands out as being the worst I have ever been treated in a store. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.
I was in there buying uniforms once. The pants had to be altered so while I was waiting I went to the gun store. I spotted something, I don't remember what now, that I had been looking for, for years. Now you don't know me, but I buy a lot of guns, and always have. If I want something, I am not BSing around. Anyway, I asked to see it. The old man, I think his name is Joe (the owner), said to me; Are you going to buy it, because I have other customers ? Needless to say, I didn't. Another incident in the uniform shop. At a union convention, a friend of mine was talking to the sales rep for the uniforms we wear. He told us that 'Shooters had been selling us seconds for years. The $5/hour employees in the range have been nearly as rude and arrogant to me. So, I feel it is my duty to drop a dime on them, every time the name comes up. |

444,
Thanks for the info! BTW, I don't know if he has many guns for sale, but I know he has a lot of full auto firearms. Tom(again, I think that's his name)is nice guy once you know him. It's not cheap to rent those full auto from him, but, I'm from CA, I can not own any full auto. His collection of full auto is one of the best I've seem. If you like full auto firearms, you've got to know the guy! Again, I STILL THINK his name is Tom!! ![]() |

Like I said, I haven't been in there for years. When I was going in there, the business was pretty much family owned and operated with some other employees. The gentleman I was referring to was the father and at that time, the owner. I personally don't have a big interest in full auto stuff. I went through a phase years ago where I did rent some sub guns at THE GUN STORE, and at the now defunt SURVIVAL STORE. I think that owning a personal full auto might be fun, but I have never had the pleasure. Every full auto I ever fired was either in the military or in one of these indoor ranges where you were closely supervised, and told when and what to shoot at. No plinking allowed. I also got the impression when I rented sub guns, that they were just anxious to get it over with and hurried me along. I can see however that for someone who never did it, it would be a lot of fun, or something fun to do while vacationing. It would have also been a lot more fun if I was allowed to bring my own reloads and shoot as many as I wanted rather than paying top dollar for factory ammo.

Gun shops in Las Vegas
I second the reply about Discount Arms on Boulder highway. Anna and Mike the owners are fine people and will always treat you right. Walt Lusthoff is a personal friend and most knowlagable in many arms. John and Walt will help you find and choose whatever you want in firearms. The range is run very safely and your experience with these people will have you going back many times. They also have a very fine reputation with the law enforcement community. You won't go wrong dealing with this fine bunch of firearms experts.

Discount Firearms is a real good place. Good gun prices, nice people. Class III rentals. Decent range fees
The Gun Store on Tropicana is filled with chairborne commandos and blowhards. They will screw you on a gun deal in a second. NPA on Blue Diamond is a good place to buy guns. Cheaper then Bill's, and does not require a trip into a hazardous area. Class III rentals. High range fees. Bill's buy and sell has decent gun prices, but "Bill" is a flake. After hearing "Now sir, that model does not exist!" in a snooty tone five times, I irritated him with my insistence until he looked it up and found it. Not interested in customer service. I would go to Discount Firearms if I was looking for a place to fool around with automatics. |

444: Yes Discount Firearms is the gunshop on Boulder highway in Henderson. I should know the address as these are personal friends of mine. I even worked behind the counter once and was range officer but the exact address escapes me.When in Vegas I stay with my old friend Walt at his home. Again fine and honest people. I hope you will see them. Yes this is an endorsement. Nuff said.

Bob, I have been in there once. It seemed to be a very nice store that stocked some of the higher end products. Nice selection. I went in there with a girlfriend who wanted a self defense piece. I had heard good things about the Kel-Tec P11 and they had a couple in stock. We looked at it, but she didn't like it. She didn't like the polymer guns. So, I bought it for myself. In addition to the gun, they also stocked all the accessories which was a rare treat for a gun store, at least around here. I also would recommend that store.

Discount Firearms is an excellent store, and on occasion have great deals. They have a nice 15 yard range there as well. It is the only place in Vegas that I shoot. The places closer to the strip have a lot of tourists, some of them who have never shot a gun (especially those who are visiting from another country!)

Gun Shops In Las Vegas
Nevada Pistol Academy Range fees are $10 and that includes the targets. I called the NPA on Monday and as of 7/09/01 they still don't have their final BATF blessing to sell guns. They have some in stock with great price tags (selling them at cost) but they can only show them and not sell them at this time.
The Gun Store Range fees are $5.00 and that does not include the .50 cents a piece targets. Great little pub and grill just west of the place, Murphy's. I usually go there after a shooting session for something to eat and have a Guinness or Murphy's Irish Stout on tap. |
