Curios and Relics

How many here that collect curios and relics collect period items for your relics?

I actually started out with helmets and as I got old enough I started adding side arms, photo albums, swords and you name it. My daughter will have one hell of a mess to sort through someday. She had to stay in my house about a week when I had cancer surgery in 2015. She told me "dad, all that old stuff in your house gives me the creeps"!

Nice pic. I used to collect WW2 militaria and had a blast with it. Finally decided to sell most of it because it took up way too much room in my house. I had over 60 helmets in the collection and a complete mint Hawley liner.

Nice.

I probably have about 50 helmets total with about 40 of them being German WWII and the rest are mostly US WWII. I've collected mine over the years and have a couple that I've owned most of my life obtaining them when I was young. The prices on the helmets has gone crazy in the last 5 years.

The bulk of my WWII collection is Lugers, High Powers, VISs, P38s and 1911s. My username of course is the model number of the Polish made Radom or VIS. The VIS looks like a cross between a 1911 and a High Power. It feels identical to shooting a 9mm 1911 right down to the hand grip.

I went a little crazy during the "Golden Age of C&R" and bought a LOT of rifles and handguns. Mauser's, SKS's, Garands, CZ 82's (7) and Makarov's just to name most of them. Never have I enjoyed buying guns more. I listened to the WWII Vet's complaining "I coulda bought (fill in the blank) for......The heck with that! I got a 03 license and bought and bought. We'll never see a time like that again.

I'm with you Terry. I've been buying surplus rifles and pistols for the last 20 years. Not enough though. I wish I had bought more 20 years ago, but there are still a few deals out there. I've added a few recently, like a CZ-52 pistol or CMP Garand over the last few years for not much money. Also, some shooters like the Swiss rifles or Carcanos are cheap enough to buy for shooting.

To the original question, I mainly try to buy WW2 but I like them all. I have civil war bayonets and many cold war weapons. I like them all.

There were some great deals out there for sure. Five new in crate Yugoslavian SKS for $600.00 delivered was just one I jumped on. All the C&R's from that time frame have at least doubled in price, sometimes four or five times the cost. They have a down side however. After shooting the surplus Czech CZ 82 I had to have more CZ's. Like 12 more. I just ordered a CZ P09 Compact.

Try

Just try to find a better double action trigger in a milsurp semi auto pistol. Love the trigger.
Just do not try to fully disassemble a CZ82. Field strip only. The pins are a nightmare.

Most of my firearms are either C&R or Antique, and I collect all sorts of accessories related to my firearms all the time. I love old loading tools that were offered in factory catalogs, advertising, and just about anything related to the guns I collect.
I also have numerous old 1800's singleshot rifles that came with old scopes on them, and I collect more of those old target scopes also. Bought three of them for my collection in the last few weeks. Some of my rifles are cased sets, so I want all the tools that would be with those cased rifles when they were new back in the day.
