New to me MAS 49/56

Just wanted to report my experience with the Royal Tiger new addition. I know, I know, RTI is all junk, according to youtube. I've bought 3 previous rifles from them and all have been what I expected. This is a non-refurbished and no re arsonel stamp. RTI says this one is all original and has a very good bore. I wouldn't call it very good but I see clear rifling and it needed a deep scrubbing.

I've only shot 30 handloads out of it. It shot all without any malfunction. It is as accurate as I can shoot with the huge front sight. Very hard to line up on my 8 inch paper plate. I got an 8 inch group with 10 shots at 100 yards. All 10 were within the paper plate and I didn't even have to adjust any of the sights. This is a great battle rifle that is ready for action. I know it can do a lot better, but to me, not bad for first time shooting this rifle.

Mine is a wonderful shooter and I roll my own ammo also, you can do better with your groups with more trigger time, and tuning your load recipe. If I remember correctly, if you remove the handguard there should be a manufacture date for the rifle, mine was 1962.

Mine is a .308 conversion. After a bit of 'tweeking' it's an excellent rifle.

According to the serial number, mine is around 1962. I haven't yet removed the handguard to check the date code on the barrel.

I reloaded 40gr, 41gr, and 42 gr of W748 with a 145 gr FMJBT bullet and all of them shot pretty good with the iron sites. I just reloaded another 30 rounds of the same with 42 gr. I can't wait to shoot it again. I am using Winchester WLR primer and make sure I get the primer in all the way and I haven't had any slam fires so far...but I will practice as much safety as I can.

I think I will try to set up my targets to place the front site right on the bottom of the target corners and I will try for better grouping.
