Looking for a discreet pistol safe for front door

Hi all,

I'm looking for a discreet handgun safe that I can place within reach of the front door. I've looked over the furniture/wall hanging type stuff but I don't see anything that really fits the bill.

I ran across this, and it looks promising:

Does anyone know anything about these, or the company?

I would never opt for any type of electronic safe. Had one once. The batteries kept draining. Completely worthless.

I have a cpl pistol safes aroundthe house. My first was a push button type, the other one is a fingerprint reader type.

The fingerprint reader does not always work the first time. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 swipes to get it to open. Not what i would trust in a time is life scenario.

Ive evolved away from staging guns in these boxes as defensive “go to’s” and just have one on me. I use these boxes to keep pistols secured in other areas, just in case

I like this one. The magazine box is an add-on for California to bypass CCW back in the day. You don't need it for home installation. All mechanical.

Sportmansguide used to have a picture frame that was deep enough with a hinge that opened and you can fit a pretty big gun inside. I don't think they sell it anymore. But, I bet you could make something similar if you are crafty with wood work.

Or you could do like my grandma used to have. She had a revolver hidden behind some books on the bookshelf.

Do you have room for something like this? Enough storage space to arm the whole family!

That thing looks out of place and obvious. The seat seems too high for human.

Maybe you could put a little table off to the side of the front door and somehow use it? Personally, I just keep a 12ga on the floor behind the couch.

Im really sick of these people coming by and asking for donations, or trying to sell us something, ask for work or ask me to vote for someone. I have my address on a no contact list with the Township, but it doesnt keep them all out of my hair. My Son said he would install a camera intercom unit that you can talk to them thru your phone without opening the door. Im just sick of the Hassel.

A "no soliciting" sign will do better than a shotgun. You can't scare them away, can you?

Hall benches like this are actually quite common, and I think you're wrong about the height. In fact, we have one in our front hall that looks very similar to this one, but we use ours to keep shoes, hats, gloves, flip-flops, etc. accessible, but out of sight, depending on the season. Difference with this one is its purpose-built with a lock to be able to store guns.

How close to the front door are we talking about?

If you're answering a knock at the door, probably no big deal but if someone breaks down the door and barges in, you may not be able to access the safe.

Just asking....

I'm thinking about the knock on the door scenario where someone has less than honorable intentions.

I won't be trying to reach that gun in a home invasion.

Not exactly discrete! There are some wall art that has hiding space for a small gun. Some with locks but office desk type key.

Look up gun hideaway decor on Amazon. Few ideas that might work.

If someone knocking has less than honorable intentions and you dont already have a gun on your person then even a fast access pistol safe probably wont be fast enough. A concealed holster is ideal here.

That said, if you insist those Vaultek safes are some of the best portable pistol safes made.
