Buffer Springs? JP polished -vs- Strike Ind. flat wound

Yes, I acknowledge there are far better springs like Geissele, Sprinco, Tubbs and JP Silent, but I'm working with a budget and trying to pick the better of the two I've listed. I'm building an AR for my daughter and I have a Strike Industries flat wound spring on my workbench, as well as a JP Enterprises ground and polished spring as well as some new H/H1 buffers (for a 16 inch, carbine length gas build.)
I've used the JP polished springs before with good luck, work well, but not sure I'm buying into the hype of the S.I. flat wound spring, was hoping someone could tell me if it's really as good as they say.

I have used them, they are decent. Better and smoother than the standard, but lack the longevity of the JPs. If it is a "shoot it a little here and there" rifle, probably won't make much difference. I needed them, with the light buffers, to make my DI 10mm run 100%.

I switched from cheap mil spec springs to the JP polished when I had a mil spec wear out, fantastic spring. I have looked at the flat wound. The concept seems sound, however based on the lack of over all interest or information on them that I found on youtube and the forums, it seems that they are either not very good, don't really make a difference either way, or are over priced and people are not willing to pay, maybe all of the above.

I still debate whether paying $18.95 for the JP was a wise decision when I could have gotten 4 of the mil spec CMMG springs for $1.01 more....

at the same same time I have wanted to try the JP silent capture system for a while now, but I just don't have $175 laying around....

Never a problem with the most basic carbine springs offered by the usual outlets. 10s of thousands of rounds.

A JP flat wire with a lighter buffer provides the same recoil impulse as the SCS, for $30 instead of $175. A lot of guys I shoot with have gone to that system for their tuned ARs. I have been running that setup for 10 years plus and sold off my SCS assemblies. I don't find it takes any more time to tune the buffer weight than to tune the SCS.

Has nothing to do with problems. Has to do with tuning the AR for the fastest, flattest operation. If your AR is over gassed, like most are, you would be wasting money and time trying to tune the BCG/spring/buffer anyway.

Sprinco. Don't go non-mil spec in spring designs or you are looking for unanticipated problems. There are enough problems with just change spring strength as it is.

By the way ...I'm not changing spring strengths, just trying to find a better than average spring and running a slightly heavier buffer in my carbine.

JP polished are nice and smooth ( provided your buffer tube is smooth inside. )
I can't attest to longevity though.

I have never used the Strike ones... but I have Tubbs Flatwire recoil springs in danged near every AR I own.... Large Frame and Small frame, and even in my 9MM PCC.

I put Strike flat wire springs in everything except my 9mm builds. One is running a Tubbs flat wire, but have not shot that one yet
