Fn fal gas piston
I purchased a replacement gas piston for my FAL and it was shipped without the hardened tip that screws into the end of the piston that strikes the bolt carrier.
![]() The replacement part is on the left, the current one is on the right. Is this an error or is the tip a separate part? Do I need to swap the tip from the old piston to the replacement? |

The threaded gas piston is from the Austrian STG58.
It was made this way to hold a brush for cleaning the gas tube. If it is straight and not undersized it should work fine. Cheers, p_r |

Thank you.
Is the closed end gas piston original to an FAL? |

Unless there are manufacturer markings that would be a tough call.

The solid tipped one has an M2 written in electric pencil on the shaft at the gas port end.
