AR DPMS 308 Mag Release
I have built several LR DPMS AR 308s on Aero Precision and Frontier lowers. Bought 308 LPKs minus trigger group from a number of sources.
Every LPK I bought, did not have a mag release rod long enough so that the bar is flush with the receiver and the mag release button: I can tighten the rod so it is flush with the mag release button and end up with the flat bar not flush with the receiver. It is approx 3/32 too short. If I tighten the rod so it is flush with the receiver, I end up with only half the threads engaged in the mag release button. What I have been doing is installing the release rod at a mid point between flush with the receiver and the button. Never had any problems as far as operation, but does not look right. Does anyone out there know where I can buy a release that is the right length? |

Aero Precision sells M5 parts kits with the correct extended mag release button. I haven't seen any mag catches with a longer threaded rod, the solution is a longer button. If the hole is drilled through I wouldn't worry about the threaded rod being flush with the outside of the button. Went through that when I put together my first M5. Pretty much any extended length button is going to work tho.
