'Square' 5 Gal. Buckets: Where To Get?
I MUCH prefer the 'Square' (kitty litter) 5 Gal buckets over round 5 Gal buckets,
Anyone got any idea where to order in bulk? I can't find a manufacturers mark on the kitty litter buckets, can't find them on eBay in quantity... They store so much better than round buckets for brass in volume it's not funny, And they don't make the economy shelving units want to lean away from the wall like round buckets do. Any ideas? |

Seek out some cat lovers !!!
A friend of mine's wife, has blessed his home with eight cats and glad that the only thing he shares with me, is his left over square buckets. Ask around as I'm sure some folks would be glad to give them to you. .....

We have the worlds laziest 20 pound Tom cat...
He doesn't go through enough buckets for volume production. The local fast food joints want as much for used buckets as you can buy them for at Lowes... Not sure I need a food grade bucket for storing brass, but they are the cheapest the handles don't pull out of when full. Those square buckets rack & store with a MUCH smaller footprint (more brass per square foot) than round buckets... |

If there's a local pet store that sells kittens, they may go through them and be willing to give you some. Call The Pound for that matter.
Uline sells them in different sizes, but the 5 gallon ones aren't cheap. On the other hand, the 4 gallon ones are almost half the price and might be a more manageable weight when filled with brass, anyway.

Try United States Plastics Corp, they have a variety of square buckets and pails:
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/def...arentcatid=687 Looks like there is a wide range of prices, depending on the particulars of each bucket...

Best bet is to find someone nearby who has a cat/cats. They'll probably be happy to get rid of them for free. If not, how about your local animal shelter? They also likely go thru them quickly and would let you take what you want.
I can't imagine having to actually purchase these! |

It might be helpful to post where you live. If you were near central Iowa I'd be able to help you out. I'm not sure shipping would be a very practical option...

Jeep Hammer,
Search for Ropak EZStore pails. These are their line of rectangular plastic pails. I am in the chemical raw material distribution business and we represent Ropak (div of Bway Corp) and they are the actual manufacturer. They come in a large variety of capacities. |

I have found that the animal shelters, rescue centers here use the cheapest stuff they can get and usually comes in brown sacks . Springer 99 idea seems the most logical find someone with multiple cats. I have 3 so I have an endless supply of "square" buckets which the wife uses for her tomato plants. Got a couple right now full of brass,

NO MORE CATS!
Appreciate the idea, but NO! I'm a dog person. 1 full time indoor cat is MORE than enough! With most prices, Amazon will deliver the kitty litter cheaper than I can buy/ship new buckets! That's crazy! I was looking to store/ship bulk brass in these buckets but most prices make that option too expensive. Looks like the USPS flat rate boxes will have to do for now... Still shopping around, keep the ideas coming! |

"Anyone got any idea where to order in bulk?"
Have you heard of the internet? Have you ever hear of a thing called a "search"? Found all you need in 30 seconds and as low as $2.55 each for full cases... Not in the habit of "spoon feeding" answers to people who don't want to exert the effort themselves... ![]() So seriously, Do your own INTERNET SEARCH... T. |

I dont think they're 5 gal. I think they're 3 gal. But any new construction with a flat roof. The screws they use to fasten the foam and membrane to the roof come in different size square buckets. Ive stopped and asked for a few on occasion. They usually dont have a problem giving them away.

Jeep, I'll have to call BS on $2.55 for a 5-gal square bottom bucket. There is another option that you might want to consider.
There is a brand of cat litter, sold at Target under their own brand of "Boots & Barkley". It comes in a non-scented clumping version, which is great, by the way, and it is sold in rectangular wide mouth 20-lb jugs. I use them to store shotgun hulls and brass and they work great for this purpose. Around here, the 20-lb jug of this litter costs $6.99, which is significantly less than the brands that come in those square bottom pails. |

I know what you mean by those type of buckets Because I try to collect them myself. I get them from people that own cats and at garage sales.
Some people sell them at the sales & I've seen where some people got them stacked up in there garage waiting to get thrown away & I will make them an offer. Good luck |

NRA,
TimW sent me a copy (cut & paste) via PM, of two different 18ea. @ $2.55 per, didn't include a link or what store they came from... Closeout or not, that's a deal I can afford! 4 gallon will be easier to lift/carry than 5 gal. and that means something when your back is full of metal pins, screws & brackets! I'm NOT an internet wizzard, been searching but found no where close to that price... The internet is a big place, I'm good with gears & wires, virtually helpless on the internet... Anyone stumbles across this $2.55 deal again PLEASE post the link or store that is carrying them! Last edited by JeepHammer; January 22, 2017 at 10:48 AM. |
