New Josey Wales pistol
Got my new Josey Wales 1861 today from Traditions. I like it! The colors are nice, the wood fit is the best I have seen and the action seems very smooth and timed right.
I think it's a shooter, right out of the box. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It is a Pietta. It came directly from Traditions website, in the "specials" section. It isn't listed in that section anymore, as that was the last one.

Really nice and no Pietta tail on the grips! I did a quick web search and couldn't find anyone else selling that particular pistol. I'll keep looking.

What makes it a Josie Wales? He didn't carry a .36.

Nice looking Navy!

Love it!!! Josey would be proud!
Hawg, it may have been one of the other pistols he used at some point besides the walkers.

In the book, which was originally named "Gone to Texas," Josey carried a Navy in his shoulder holster where in the movie he carried an 1849 Pocket.

I got a mold on the way. I got at least a dozen .44s but never had a .36 before.

I can't wait for a report on your shooting it Beagle333. I'd like to have one too. Will you use .375 or .380 round balls in it?

I ordered .380, just to be sure. It'll shave em down and I'll see what it likes. I'd rather be too big than too small.
![]() My powder is supposed to be here Tuesday. They don't sell real BP around here anywhere, so I had to order some 3F and 4F. I needed some real powder because I also picked up a Renegade Flinter in .54 cal. Unfired and still new-old-stock in the box. I have a lot of Pyrodex but I didn't have any way to light it. ![]() (yes, the barrel was off in this pic)

Bit pricey at Midway.
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/901...-frame-antique I think he dug the 61 out of his burned out house after he burried his wife and kid. It was a cartridge conversion and incorrect for the time period. That was the only scene it was in. |

Beagle333,
Love your new pistol and Auburn. I will be there next weekend for a wedding. Good luck with it. I don't own a .36, but I need one! TK |

Let's see the bottom of the grip. I'd like to see the cutout for the shoulder stock.

Maybe somebody at Traditions thought this was a converted 1861
![]() and just called it that. Since the description on their website says: "This model is a replica of the revolver found by Josey after his family was killed and his house burned down by Northern Raiders. " But maybe they were wrong, or the replica isn't exact, just like the Pietta replica of the Navy is the wrong caliber. ![]()
