Nosler 3006 ammo stamped 25-06
I bought a box of 165 gr. 3006 accubonds
and looking at each head stamp ( like I've come to do lately ) I found one stamped 25-06. Everything measured to be .308 and 2.484 for bullet and case, even neck diameter. I could not hear powder shake on most of them but I could on about 2 or 3 . Bought them to see how well they group but haven't yet. |

If this is new off the shelf ammo, I wouldn't worry about it. Some where along the line a case with the wrong head stamp got in the wrong box. They're so close it's pretty easy to to.

Call Nosler and let them know there's a hitch in their gettalong...could help somebody down the line from trying to shoot improper ammo through their rifle.
Nosler will fix you up for your troubles...dont shoot the 25-06 headstamp cartridge and dont throw box out, there's a lot number some where that'll prove important later....Nosler folks real nice, call them.

Yes I agree with that. If it has the wrong headstamp, what else could be wrong about it?

A few years back I got a really good deal/find on a couple of 50 round bags of .358 Win. Brass. When running them through the sizing die to round off the necks 6 rounds would not go into the shell holder. They did go into the shell holder for the 30-30 though. I have 6 round of .356 Win. brass stamped .358 Win.

Tom Waits sings:
This is the story of Big Nosler and the phantom 25-06. I want you to keep that cartridge as a souvenir of Big Nosler |
