Anyone carry a full size 92FS IWB?
I currently carry my Colt 1911 full size in a Galco Royal Guard IWB holster and it works great. I would prefer to carry a 9mm my own reasons (capacity, way more invested in ammo). I few years ago I was awash in full size 9mm pistols from Sig 226, HK USP, Browning hi-power, FEG Hi-power, CZ75B, Stoeger Cougar, and (my current and only 9mm these days) Beretta 92FS Inox. I hate to buy another full size 9mm for this role if I don't have to. This is alittle fatter of a pistol than my 1911. The HK USP and the SIG226 are also about the same thickness and I see people here that carry them.
I prefer leather over kydex. If you carry one IWB in, say, a Galco Royal guard, or any other "summer special" style IWB holster, how is it?

I've often carried a Glock 21 in a "summer special" type holster just fine. I only find it a little harder to conceal vs a 1911. I can't imagine a 92FS is any more difficult to carry.
My issue with that style holster is, however, that with larger guns they tend to cant too far forward (I carry at 3 o'clock) and I have to adjust too much. I prefer something closer to the Galco V-hawk or Versa Max 2 style myself, especially with larger guns. |

I've done it and my friends done it as well...as long as you have some loose shirt or two layers it's just fine

Arnold Schwarzenegger carried his in an ankle holster in Kindergarden Cop, so I don't see why not.

I'm one of the guys carrying a p226, and I'd like to offer some of my thoughts. I have a galco kingtuk for my p226 and I carry it in the 3:30 position. I really had to work to adjust the cant to avoid printing while having an easy draw. Honestly, I've fumbled to get my wallet out of my pocker without catching on the barrel end of the holster. If I raise the cant of the holster the grip will print if my body is "in action" lifting a box or something like that.
Now, why that matters is because I can, albeit barely, conceal the length of the P226. The beretta is even longer and I don't think I could conceal another .25inches. I do have a 92fs though so I can maybe take some pictures later comparing the concealability. Also I do not have a deep enough torso for a shoulder holster which is how I would prefer to conceal the 92fs. |

I frequently carry the similarly sized Sig P226 MK25 concealed. Comp-Tac Infidel or Alien Gear Cloak Tuck(1.0)

I carry the CZ-75b 9mm in a Wild Bill outside the waistband holster. It's a monster!
![]() I only carry the beast in the winter cause, well, you can always wear a trench coat if need be. ![]() Unnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Fortunatly, I am in between that and a couple of 22 22/mag sport pistols, when warm months arrive, which I would not carry for personal defense. However, that is a topic that needs us real men to give serious consideration to. I can shoot the hole out of a hole at 25 feet consistently with a 22 "carry size" pistol. Now saying that, you won't get a lot of attention short of; "He has a gun", from bystanders and the perp will be so adrenaline-d up, that he probably wont feel 10 shots to center of mass. However, "IF" i aimed at head, he or she would drop rather quickly, even if they didn't feel it! Under the pressure and split second decision of the circumstances of the moment of being agressed by the perp, I'm not sure I would necessarily respond correctly unless, I practiced, practiced, practiced those type shots, and in those near critical style moments. Train the muscles and they will go to the correct position when the situation arises ![]() There is a site posted somewhere here that I spent a day reading that was put together really well by a coroner that also knew hand guns. His take was more were killed with 22's than any other cal weapon. You can find that discussion here: http://www.gunthorp.com/Terminal%20B...a%20morgue.htm I am sure that there are at least as many opinion's on 22's for self defense as there are guns out there. But opinion's aside: Fact remains: when the fit hits the shan, and you aren't real comfortable with a 45 1911 ( or 40 or 9), and that what you got, you will expend all rounds if possible and in the end "Own all the bullets" as to where they went. I see all day every day people that would be much better off having a small caliber ![]() ![]() All that said; Big guns do get everyone's attention! And there is a certain level of bragging rights ![]() |
