Just Bought Some 22LR...

325 rounds for $20...Is this the new price for 22 ammo?? Seems a bit high, but I was glad to get some.

Nope its not the new norm. I pay $15 for the 325rd bricks of Federal auto match at wallyworld.

I paid $17.99 for 325 Federal Auto at Bass Pro Shop. Not sure how that compares to prices pre-panic, but it seems like they're coming back down.

At one point during the panic we paid $80 for a box with a similar round count.

Now I'd still expect to pay $30

I'd pay $20 for 325 rounds. Heck, I paid $35 for 325 about 3 weeks ago at a LGS. Can't even get it for that now. Walmart might sell cheaper but only if I place zero value on my time. I've been going to the 2 around me a couple of times a week. The only handgun ammo I've seen was three 50rd boxes of 38 special a couple of weeks ago. I don't shoot 38 special so no use to me.

I just returned to shooting about 2 months ago after a very long lay off. I have yet to see any 22 lr, 9mm, or 380 auto at our Walmarts. I do get some pretty good exercise going there though.

I bought 375 rounds of the Troy Landry CCI Mini Mags last week from Cabelas on line. $27.95 plus shipping. Seems most reasonable after seeing a certain cheaper place selling Mini Mags for 50 cents per round. Couldn't believe my eyes, but here it was, $49.95 for a box of Mini Mags, 100 rounds.

I posted in the wheres everything at thread how to get what you want from walmart without wasting time. "Get the app. Search ammo and click the link to the nearest store regardless of it saying out of stock. This will bring a list of the closest stores to your location and their inventory status. In stock means they either have it on a truck heading to the store, its at the store waiting to be put on the shelves or its on the shelves. Limited stock means 1-3 boxes left. Out of stock means just that."

One thing I'll add which I already said in a later post is that when it says inventory stock unavailable it means in stock now for the most part. They did some reworking of the app and screwed it up a bit. It no longer says in stock and limited stock. Only out of stock and unavailable. Also asking the managet of that store or dept which days they get trucks helps narrow down the days to use the app. Some will even tell you whether they place the ammo out at night or in the am(7am). But in either case its not hard to see a pattern develop when using the app.

I have bought just about everything I need at pre panic prices from walmart just by using that app alone.

Edit: ive had to use types of ammo that my guns don't like from time to time. Like the federal stuff for instance. But the added failures arent as big a deal as not being able to take my wife and sons to the range at all.

A local gun shop here is pricing common ole' Thunderbolt at $9 per box of 50, and $90 for a brick of 500.
No, that's not a misprint.
I've switched from .22 to blowback airguns.

There still is a shortage and people buy 22LR where they find it. I think we're finally starting to pull out of it, but supplies will probably be spotty for a few more months.

Price wise, generally the big box stores are selling it at the same markup they did prior to the Nov. 2012 election. Price may have crept up a little which is not uncommon year to year.

I refuse to pay $9/50ct box of thunderbolts. It will be years before I'll be willing to spend that.

I'd pay $20 all day long for 325. Yes, it's about $7 more than 8 months ago, but at least you can find it.
I'm on vacation in Michigan. On the way to the UP, and spending the night in Saginaw. I stopped in the Cabela"s in Dundee and Saginaw, and the Gander Mountain in Saginaw. All three had plenty of 45 auto, 9 mm, and .40. All three had 5.56, and .223 out the wahzoo!

Not one of them had a sniff of .22 LR, short, long, nada!
Plenty of .17 hmr, but no .22

Is the profit margin on the larger calibers that much more than the rimfire ammo, that they just stopped making it?

Shot up most of a brick today, price tag on it was $11.95.

Won't replace it for a while, not until the prices come to normal. Fortunately, I have a stack of 'em.

The last gun show I attended had one vender selling federal 525 round bulk packs for, wait for it..., $125. It basically became a running joke for everyone that passed by that particular vendors table.

I would have never guessed that in times like these .22lr ammo would be experiencing the greatest demand.

Airgun supplies aren't exactly in abundance either, right now.
The cat must be out of the bag.
There's a definite increase in other folks using their air guns, these days.
The two largest stores that sell air gun supplies near us are very low, with nearly empty shelves.
But, at least they have some.
If things don't improve soon, might have to dust off the ole' bow and arrow.
