CZ P-01 vs Sig P229 Trigger Reach
I've always wanted a CZ P-01 but none of my LGS carries one. My biggest concern is the trigger reach. I hear it is a very long reach. I have shot the Sig P229 with the newer reduced reach trigger and regular grips and don't have an issue with them. The regular trigger on the Sig is a reach for me and I have to shift my grip a little. My question is, is the CZ P-01 trigger reach similar or longer than the Sig with the shorter reach trigger? Pictures with both side by side would be extremely helpful. Thanks guys.

I have a Sig P228, and a CZ PCR and 75B. The CZ's can be carried at the half cock notch. The PCR decocks to the half cock notch, and both are designed to be safely carried at half cock. When you compare it to the Sig, compare it at half cock. The trigger reach on the CZ's is fine.

As my 5'4" wife (with her delicate 6" long hand) has not one bit of trouble shooting our CZ75, I cannot understand how anybody her size or larger would have trouble reaching the CZ75 trigger. What am I missing?

I think CZ's are just weird. The trigger reach IS long, and everything (controls) is far forward. That's my opinion.

Well if it's not considered long by at least some people, then why is this even a topic of conversation? The topic had to originate somewhere, for some reason.

Pilot pretty much nailed it. The P-01 operates exactly the same as the PCR in that when you decock, the hammer only falls to half-cock meaning both a shorter reach as well as a much shorter trigger pull. Even though many people identify decockers with SIG/Sauer pistols, CZ has the best of all decocking systems, IMO, and I have both the P-01 and a P-226. The longer trigger reach associated with CZ pistols are with the manual safety versions, and lowering the hammer to the slide then requires a full-length DA pull. Those designated BD, or the PCR, P-01, P-06 and P-07 all decock to half-cock.

I have the P-01 and one partial reason I got it is because the trigger reach WAS NOT too long. I have short fat fingers and the grip & trigger fit very well. I did compare the P-01 to the model 75B, and in that case I found that B model to have a longer less comfortable reach. By the way, as a side note, I've sold off all my automatic pistols except for one: the CZ P-01.

If you place it on half cock, does the trigger actually move back a little or does it stay at the same position as uncocked but with slack on the trigger?

On the CZ's the trigger moves back a bit when placed on half cock, thus shortening the DA trigger pull.
