Three Position Rifle Gold - Jamie Gray is awsome!
Mods, please move to the correct forum, if this is located incorrectly.
I am so proud to have an American woman win the 3 position rifle gold medal. I think the young lady shooters in the U.S. can take great pride in the fact that a young lady from Alaska has broken the world three position rifle record! We are the country in the world that can and should promote the shooting sports and this young lady has done more than her share! Go Jamie Gray! Your 691.1 has made us proud! I hope your success will inspire many more young ladies to engage in the shooting sports!

Good for Jamie Gray!
Any info on what rifle and ammunition she used? I'd guess Anschutz and Eley but that would just be a guess. |

Can someone tell me what they were shooting, in terms of the rifle? They sounded like air rifles to me, but I couldn't be sure.

Spats,
They are single shot bolt action .22 LR. I am pretty sure they were Anschutz rifles, but I have not been able to confirm. The trgets for the standing portion were at 50 m! With her last shot, she scored a near perfect bull. It was scored at 10.8. I am not sure what max is for dead center, but I assume an 11.0.

I know that at least one competitor's rifle said "Walther" on the side. That was not Jamie Gray's rifle, though. I think it was the German's, but am not sure. I also heard the announcer say that the target was roughly the size of a penny!

I've seen one source that says she has shot an Anschutz in a past competition, can't find anything on the 2012 games.
Anschutz, Walther, and Feinwerkbau are the most likely possibilities. Campriani, who won men's 50m three position rifle was shooting a Feinwerkbau.

Ah! Jamie Beyerle Gray. She grew up in Central Pennsylvania.
A good friend's nephew knows her and trained with her. He's trying hard to make the Olympic squad.

That's some hard holding. The lady can shoot. ISU rifle is about as hard as it gets to rifle shooting.

Jamie Gray is most definitely awesome. Why don't we have more ladies like her around?

I'm frustrated! I went here:
http://www.london2012.com/shooting/e...ons/index.html and found the results and was happy, then on a whim went to the left side of the screen where they have 'Results', 'Timetable', 'Records', and 'Competition format' and clicked on 'Competition format' and got the next screen with a big old empty balloon where the information should have been. Bah! I want coverage on this sport like I get coverage for NASCAR!!! I'd like to know the make and model gun and the ammunition used. For heaven sakes if the reporter ASKED I'm CERTAIN Ms. Gray would have told him. I know they have to use iron sights, but did she use post or apeture or what I've seen some claim to be the best, a tinted plastic disk with a hole in the middle set in the front sight. Redfield has provided these for years but I'm no longer 'current' in what is being used today. Gosh! Inquiring minds want to know! Once again though, congratulations to Ms. Gray!!! |

Here is a RifleShooter Magazine explination of the 50M 3 Position equipment.
Pretty interesting. A perfect shot in the 5mm inner 10 ring is worth 10.9. Ms. Gray shot a 10.8 with her final shot! Some feat! http://www.rifleshootermag.com/2012/...osition-rifle/ Here is a link to USA Shooting's "rules of the game". http://www.usashooting.org/library/R...2012_rifle.doc
