P99 and PPQ grip/fit?
Are the P99 and PPQ close or similar to one another in how they feel or how they one's hands?
Thanks, Joe |

Yes.
The shape of the frontstrap and backstrap of these two pistols is identical. The difference is in the sides of the grip, where the P99 is flat while the PPQ has a more rounded profile, as well as the different texture between the two grips. If you like one, I'd bet you will like the other. Personally, I prefer the PPQ grip because the rounded sides fill up my hands a little better, but that is not saying anything bad about the grip of the P99, and some actually prefer the grip of the P99. The only other polymer pistol IMO that can compete with these two, as far as the feel of the grip, would be the H&K P30. |

I have two P99s, but no PPQ, yet. AFAIK the grip (and backstraps) are the same, the PPQ just has a different texture.

I have two P99s and a PPQ. The PPQ has ridges on the sides that naturally fit in the hand. It is a very instinctive grip. I seem to get faster target acquisition because of it. I love my two P99 pistols and was surprised at the difference. Here are some comparison photos:

Iron Man, it looks like you have the small backstrap on the P99 and the medium on the PPQ. I'm curious if this is deliberate.
When I tried all three on my P99 a few years ago, I felt the medium fit me best. So after I bought the PPQ, I just left the medium on there. I'm curious if you find the P99 more comfortable with the small backstrap, but find the PPQ more comfortable with the medium backstrap, as both of the grips seem similar to me? I may have to knock out that roll pin and try the small and large on the PPQ. |

Personally, I might prefer the P99 ever so slightly. The deeper serrations on the frontstrap grip slightly better when firing, which is a good thing, because, as far as I can tell, the P99/PPQ is the lightest full-size polymer pistol on the market. Regardless, the ergonomics of the P99/PPQ are the best of any polymer pistol, bar none. |
