1911 Triggers

I'm looking for a new trigger for my 1911. Although I know how to fit a trigger I am still relatively new to the technical side of being a gun owner. I keep finding triggers that are designated as "long" "medium" and "short". I'm assuming it has something to do with length of pull but I don't want to buy a new trigger on an assumption. What are the differences? Can anyone tell me pro and cons of these different triggers?

If you are going to answer your own question correctly, what do you need us for?
Seriously, the reason for choosing an alternate trigger length is to provide the proper distance from the back of the grip to the front of the trigger.
The proper distance is the one that allows for the gun hand to be centered on the back of grip as it should (web of the hand in line with the forearm) and the first joint of the trigger finger (the pad of the finger) to rest on the trigger with the remainder of the finger to be clear of the gun.
Otherwise, if the trigger finger pushes on the side of the gun,
or the hand is off center of the grip, inaccuracies can result.

Virtually everyone I know is using a long trigger on their 1911, regardless of apparent hand size. If you have extremely small hands, you may want to try something shorter than a long. There are triggers with interchangeable inserts that allow you to change the length, and while that might be nice, along the lines of a "try gun" for fitting, it seems extravagant on a gun that will be shot by one person.

I prefer the long trigger. Medium triggers feel OK too, but the long just feels better. Never liked the short ones, but I do concede they're better when wearing a heavy winter glove.
