hello there!
I'm buying a s&w revolver and I have an offer but I'm not sure which model is. the owner told me it is an AJ 2-6800 model, 3,5" barrel, six shot cylinder, inox, adjustable rear sight. I just can't figure the model and he is not able to explain me. could anybody help me? thank you ![]() |

The revolver in the picture is a Smith & Wesson Model 686.
The actual barrel length is 4 inches measured from the front of the cylinder, not the front of the frame. |

FWIW, If you change out your stalks, hang on to the original S&W walnut target grips. They are a bit pricey to replace.

"AJ 2-6800"
That's not the model. It's very likely a partial serial number. Serial numbers for S&W revolvers in the 1980s went to a 3 letter plus four digit system.
