What's your round?
There was the 9mm. Then the .380 came out.
There was the 10mm. Then the .40 S&W became the watered down version. There was the .45 ACP. Then the .45 GAP came out. Some like a big bullets. Some like fast flying bullets. Taking cost and availability out, what would your one and only round be from all the handgun rounds out there? What's your answer if you were to factor in cost and availability? |

The previous post was a good example for revolver rounds.
Here is my answer for semi-auto rounds. Quote:

.40 S&W
I only say that because that's what my #1 gun is chambered in.

38 Super Automatic. Great stopping power, not a lot of kick and it makes a nice big hole.

.357 Mag in a revolver ....
.45 acp in a semi-auto ..... I've been a reloader for 50+ yrs ....so cost isn't really a factor for me. I shoot what I want to. |

If I had to have only 1 caliber, it would be the .357.

45 colt for sure. It's got power and great history. It can be loaded light when a light load is what's needed.

Not factoring in cost or availability, its a close tie between .45 and .40.
Factoring in cost 9MM. |

My favorite round, regardless of cost, is the .45acp in 230gr.

Even if cost wasn't a factor like it is now for me, It still wouldn't change my main "go to" round the 124gr 9x19.

I like 357 magnums. I own seven. I would go with 158gr SJHP.

What about the 44Magnum? You can reload it to 44S & W levels if you want to practice. Top round, accurate, powerful.

CorBon DPX or Federal HST for most everything works fine.
I also like Buffalo Bores soft load 158 gr. "FBI" loads in standard and +P for .38 Spl. CorBon makes a good midrange .357 load in DPX that chrono's at 1300 fps from my 3" M66, and is easy to manage. If I carried .357 in a light revolver, that would be my choice. And, while the 125 gr. JHP or SJHP made the .357's street reputation (and a good one at that), there are those who, for some reason, prefer the 158 gr. JHP. ![]() |

.45acp, either way. I handload, so cost is not a major issue.
Think I'll go load some right now. ![]() |

If cost and availibility wasn't a factor. My favorite round would probably be the .44 Mag.
For cost and availibility reasons my favorite round is .45 acp. |
