In this months American Rifleman they have an article saying that Hornady is taking their Superformance powder to the handloading market. Anybody tried it? Anybody interested in it?

I'd be happy if I could just find a friggin' pound of HP-38!

But of course if the new stuff is out there, you just gotta try it

I posted nearly this exact question a week ago. Someone said the LeveRevolution and SuperPerformance powders should be on the market in Jan/Feb.

I'm mostly interested in what these powders might do for heavy .223 Rem loads, such as 68gr or 75 gr bullets. Those are so much longer than the 55 grainers that you lose a lot of powder capacity and velocity drops way off. Getting back another 200 fps would be nice.

I would think the main benefits would be:
- flatter trajectory past 300 yds for common bullet weights for caliber

- More velocity, flatter trajectory for short barreled rifles and/or heavy for caliber bullets

- A little more oomph for big game (elk, bear, moose) from cartridges such as .30-06 and .308; without having to go to a magnum.

But for shooting common weight for caliber bullets out to 300 yds at medium game or targets I doubt we will see much difference.

Just quickly looked over the pdf of the load data, looks like this would be a good way to get factory performance on the Leverevolution & Superformance cartridges, hopefully at a savings if you have one of these calibers. Makes it worth thinking about a Marlin .308 for brush busting again.....

I'd like to try some in my 204 Ruger. If it could REALLY get 200fps more than any other powder, I'd be at 4400fps...
