Best budget 7mm mag
My buddy is looking to get a 7mm rem mag to go elk hunting. What are some good rifles under 500?

This time of year, there are a lot of used mags available. Under 500, it'll be pretty used. Stay away from the plastic combo pieces, IMHO.

Get a Savage or Stevens. The Stevens should be available NEW for less than $500...

Last February, I bought a brand new Weatherby Vanguard, synthetic stock, at Wally world, for 350.00 on clearance!!! It shoots sweet, and the recoil pad is the why I haven't traded it! It doesn't beat me up like my son's 700 used to. I can shoot a box of shells at one setting with no problems!!

Also mine shoots les than 1/2 MOA at one hundred yds, with Hornady Custom 139 gr. BTSP's, and I'll bet my hat right now in the hands of a real good shooter it might shoot same hole!!!

I say "almost" because I've got a .30-06 and since I don't reload the ammo is notably cheaper. ![]() |

A guy I shoot with has one in 7mm and its very accurate. He put a 3-9x leupold (also from WalMart) on it and its definitely a capable rifle.
