Springfield Armory M1A Polymer Stock

I read on the American Rifleman website that Springfield is supposedly selling a "drop-in" replacement polymer stock in various colors now. The colors they are offering are Black, Olive Drab, Urban and Real-Tree Camo. Has anyone else heard about this, or better yet actually bought one? Can you purchase one through any online retailers or is a call into Springfield necessary? I'd love to lighten/toughen up my M1A NM a little with a polymer stock. The wood stock is really pretty but it's heavy and I hate to scratch it up.

Nothing on SA's web site yet, call them. I've had good luck with GI glass stocks. I glass some carbon fiber tubes down the fore-end, sand and paint. They are light and bullet proof, cheap too.

You can buy the rifle with them already on it too. I got mine around the Obama election. At the time they were not listed on the site, they have been advertising the stocks and on the rifles lately. At the time of my purchase they only advertised black,walnut and camo. Kinda ticks me off, I wanted black but opted for the green cause it was rare at the time,not anymore. I will warn you though,they scratch,gouge,cut,etc. pretty easily. I would stick with the walnut. The older models had a pebble looking finish that was rumored to chip. These don't chip cause the color goes through not just on the surface,these also have checkered grips.

I have a receipt and it's listed on the upc on the box if any one wants to question the authenticity. I know how some people can be.

Mine came with a composite stock - love it -no worries about dings or such and just enjoy the shooting -

One addition worth while - IMO is the XS ghost ring sights - aperture diameter is twice the stock one and white stripe on front is tritium -

Big improvement over sights that came with it -

OJ, Have you had problems with mags fitting too tight? I had to shave some off with a razor blade so they would fit right.

keep an eye on Fred's stocks website: http://www.fredsm14stocks.com/.
They have synthetic stocks.
I just checked their website and they seem to be out of the $55 ones, but they get them in all the time. Or, you can get an original wood stock from them for about $25 - $45 and use it for everyday stuff.
