.45/.40

What up guys? I was just wondering is the .45 superior to the .40? I thought the forty had more energy? I believe it's a higher pressure round but does anyone have any knowledge on this? Thanks

Yes.

No.

Maybe.

HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE ETHEREAL GOD-LIKE QUALITIES OF THE .45 ACP, GOD'S OWN CHOSEN HANDGUN CALIBER! ARE YOU SOME SORT OF COMMUNIST OR SOMETHING?

Look, your question is really off-topic for the Handloading/Reloading forum, unless you're asking which is easier to reload.

You would want to be asking your question in the semi-autos forum.

HOWEVER, this very question is asked every 17.2 minutes every day of the year, and the answers never vary.

OK, that's an exaggeration, but it really feels like it at times.

I suggest that you simply scan through the topics in the handguns (general and semiauto) forums and you'll see what I mean.

You'll also see that there is not, never has been, and never will be anything even remotely resembling consensus on this subject, and that just about every time it comes up the same positions are argued again and again, often by the same people leading to what we on staff fondly call the Caliber Wars.

For those reasons, I'm closing this instead of moving it.
